Postponing just seems like such a logistical nightmare...I know there is a lot of money being left on the table in the event of a cancellation but I can't imagine how to make it work, especially with the "same lineup". I don't think it will be 100% the same lineup but AEG has deep enough pockets and enough pull within the industry that I think most of these acts would accommodate a rescheduled Coachella.

Also most artists will want to play Coachella because it's Coachella

Also most artists will want to play Coachella because it's Coachella It’s not a question of whether they want to, it’s how many October contracts now potentially have to be broken to even give availability for the new weekends. It is a bona fide nightmare and I can’t see it happening - but still curious to see if it does!

Also all the artists that book “Coachella tours” around their slot at the fest may now run into trouble affording those runs that they’re also contracted for, depending on the logistics of getting the band and crew to the west coast without the Coachella paycheck.

I wonder if postponing until October would have any impact on Primavera. Don't know they'd have a ton of overlap but I could see it having an effect on sales.

moving honestly seems insane, but considering that, due to cancelling, sxsw just had to lay off 1/3 of their staff, are expecting to lose millions of dollars because of the cancellation, and aren't even sure if they'll be able to come back from this, i can understand why coachella would try to do anything they can to make the event still happen this year.

This could legitimately kill a lot of fests, which really sucks.
Also I feel like it's kind of shitty that insurance doesn't cover a situation like this, specially if the city forces it to cancel

Kind of a common thing in any calamity or emergency- companies that are well capitalized and are well insured typically come out stronger because the leveraged ones eat it.

Not to mention visa issues, etc. I know of a few other announcements that are currently being held up to see how all of this shit plays out, but the events are still on as far as I know.

Per TMZ, festival is moving to October with same headliners not that i wanna take TMZ as gospel, but only mentioning the headliners suggests to me that the rest of lineup will be mercurial based on what chvrch/airport said about visas and touring issues i'd assume they'll fight to keep as many acts as possible but there's gonna be fallout and replacements now no matter what

There's the real question of whether or not things are calmer in October too. Seems like a potential risk to postpone to October and then cancel it a month out because we're still in the midst of dealing with the virus.

Counterpoint: I got a cheap ass hotel for the new weekend 1 and it's fucking lit

Just got my wristband in the mail. Yay.... Trade for weekend 1, stay with my unofficial squad 10 minutes from the fest, watch me drink my weight in coronas and throw up in a flower pot outside a gay bar like last time

If OctoberChella is actually real I will do my best to pivot to W1, but also it is the day after I see Nick Cave in Denver.... unless Nick Cave cancels...
....plagues are hard. I don’t remember any of this from the Camus novel.

Well some posters on inforoo who have had inside info in the past have said it might be postponed till October. It makes sense. That rumor has been floating around for a couple of weeks. That is why I think Bonaroo, Lolla, Etc. might all get cancelled. The Taste of Chicago and the Entire 2020 Street Festival Scene is in jeopardy. Bye Bye Coachella (until, at least, October). Without the window to reschedule -- Lolla is probably toast and looking at a full cancellation. See y'all in 2021. Hopefully.

does "dang" refer to stagecoach specifically, or both fests? [obscure roger miller reference]
