Mad once again that the Bulls messed up the tank so badly. Also the Pels playing great at the end of the season to bury the other pick... watch them use it to get Grayson Allen

If the Bulls take Allen I’m becoming a Nuggets fan.

They decided to take him a month ago, his agent has a relationship with the Bulls. This is the way they do things.

I think Diallo ends up being a star for the Nets. Good pick.

Like the Bulls pick, though. I don’t hate it. Him lauri and Portis isn’t a terrible set to have

He's going to be a perfectly fine player. But the tank plan called for a lot more than that.

Would've 7 thousand times rather have drafted grayson allen at least there would've been a story line.
What are the Bulls story lines of 2018? Will Lauri being ripped make him do defense slightly better? Will Kris Dunn do slightly less turnovers? THRILLING STUFF

I think Bagley will win ROTY but in the long term they will regret not taking JJJ or Doncic.

I think Bagley will win ROTY but in the long term they will regret not taking JJJ or Doncic. I feel like he's going to be the new master of meaningless double-doubles. And it's perfect that he's in Sacramento because Z-Bo is there to mentor him on that skill.

I'm sure Carter will be fine but this was a super unexciting pick for a team that needs some excitement. Just unfortunate they couldn't work a trade to move up.
I read somewhere that the promise to that dude from Boise State so early before the draft may have killed their negotiating ability in terms of actually trading up.

I was hoping the Bulls would randomly end up with Gilgeous-Alexander - not sure I get that trade.

I was hoping the Bulls would randomly end up with Gilgeous-Alexander - not sure I get that trade. They did get Devonte Graham with their second pick, so they still come away with a potential backup for Kemba, assuming they don't trade him, too. I don't think Miles Bridges was a bad pick at all... just that Alexander was probably better.

I really like Wendell Carter but I honestly don't get the praise regarding him being a great fit next to Lauri.
Didn't we just see four years of the Cavs struggling to play Love and Thompson next to each other?

Also for the most part I thought every team did a great job. I found myself muttering "great pick.." like every 5 seconds after reading the recap.
Jacob Evans to the Warriors is unfair tho

Assuming you're saying Love = Lauri and Tristan = Carter, I don't think that's a fair comparison. The rep on Carter is that he's far more skilled than someone like Tristan and can actually shoot (41% on 3-pointers and 74% on FTs last year) and do other things on offense (he's said to be a good passer as well).
The most optimistic Carter fans think he could be a Horford-type, but I think a more conservative comp would be someone like Derrick Favors. Favors is obviously not someone you tank for, but I think most teams would be happy getting someone as productive as Favors at #7.

Totally fair. I was just referring to the fact that an elite team's ceiling was higher when one of their two good bigs was benched. Same thing with Horford (and Favors for that matter). These guys are all good players, but having them share the floor with another big isn't desirable in today's NBA. I'm not a Lauri fan, but he could be a legitimate star if he could play the 5 passably. Only way for him to do that is for the Bulls to develop those skills by giving him a ton of minutes there this year, which is going to be very hard now that Carter is on the team. Now the only way for this team to take a huge leap forward is for a.) Carter to be a truly elite rim protector and/or b.) Lauri to become an elite shooter. Maybe these things happen, I'm just not optimistic about it.

I think it depends on the matchup. Favors was really valuable (mostly playing w/ Gobert) during the OKC series. He had some absolutely dominant games during that series and was one of the big reasons they advanced, killing Carmelo (and Grant, Patterson and whoever else they tried in that spot) on the boards and in the paint while Gobert was largely neutralized by Adams. Then, against Houston, he was basically unplayable aside from the backup center minutes he got when Gobert sat.
From a Bulls perspective, I think we're getting a little ahead of ourselves if we're already worrying about how they're going to match up in the playoffs against teams like Houston, Golden State and Boston. There aren't that many of those teams in the league, and if you're a rebuilding team, you need to get ahead of 26 other teams before you even need to worry about beating any of those elite teams. And I think, if they continue to develop, a combination like Carter and Lauri will be plenty useful against those other 26 teams.

I would agree with this if the Bulls were perennially awful and a playoff berth was a momentous occasion. BUT: The Bulls front office had a perennial playoff team under Thibs and systematically dismantled it because they weren't satisfied with just making the playoffs. Literally only one year ago the Bulls had Jimmy Butler, Rajon Rondo, Dwyane Wade, Niko Mirotic, and Taj Gibson: five guys who had real impacts on playoff teams this year. So if the Bulls want to waste multiple seasons and they aren't worried "about beating any of those elite teams", then this is an even bigger crock of shit than previously imaginable.

We'll see. Golden State obviously isn't going to be Golden State forever. And we have no way of knowing if this whole small-ball, switching everything movement that's so en vogue right now is going to last forever or if it's more or less a passing trend. 5 years from now, there might be a completely different formula to success.
I was down on the Carter Jr. pick initially since I'm pretty biased against Duke guys (as evidenced by my comments yesterday). But the more I see of him I'm really starting to come around on the pick. Then again, I hated the Lauri pick last year and I'm now on record as having him pegged for multiple all-star games throughout the course of his career. So maybe I'm taking the opposite approach and trying to be more optimistic this year.
As for Hutchison, I can't help but think he's going to be their starting SF on opening night. Not necessarily because he'll be great, but they just don't have anyone else at that position and he seems ready to at least step in and at least contribute right away. I really do think they had a productive draft.
