Sounds like Jabari is coming home. if its short term and not outrageous...i am okay with this Reports are that it’ll be in the 2 year, $40 mil range. It’s interesting on a couple levels because that would mostly take them out of the 2019 free agency game but allow them to be players in the summer of 2020, which would still be before Lauri is due for an extension. Also, would this signing suggest they’re ready to start competing (or at least trying to win) as soon as this year?

Team option makes it more bearable, but I don’t see him as a good fit. He’s going to be a serious defensive liability at the 3, and if the plan is to play him some at the 4 and move Lauri to the 5 then why did they draft Carter?

So, the starting lineup is:
PG - Dunn SG - LaVine SF - Parker PF - Markkannen C - Carter
The defense when these 5 are on the court is going to be absolutely abysmal.

my guess is the plan will be to start robin lopez and have wendell carter as a 4/5 backup 6th man position

Good luck to the Raptors in trying to keep him in Toronto.

He'll play, he needs to accrue the service time not to mention the cash. But yeah this seems a bit vindictive on the Spurs part.

Yeah, they've built up so much good cred over the years that you have to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Toronto with a healthy Kawhi can make the finals. I love so many of their players.

Even if the Spurs arguably should be above sending a marquee player off to a team he has no desire to play for, the Raptors somehow one-upped them by trading a player they only just promised they would not trade.

I get that something had to change but not a fan of that at all for the Raptors. One year rental of an unhappy Kawhi for a fan favorite player that you previously told you wouldn't trade?

Also no one talking about the Spurs side they made the playoffs with no Kawhi and just added DeRozan who I feel like will flourish there
They are never going to die I hate it

They have a real shot at the Finals this year, and they wouldn't have had one without Kawhi. They might win 60 games. Also they were going to have to tear it down anyway, and they can do that one year earlier now since they're off the hook from that third year of DeRozan.

How would they not have a real shot at the Finals when they made the conference semis this year and won't have to play Lebron next season?
Anyway, I'm not a fan of any eastern teams getting better. The Hornets are gonna struggle enough.

raptors gonna be real fuckin good next season
i expect og + pascal to really make a leap, and kawhi instead of derozan is such an improvement
idk if finals but they for sure have a better shot than they did yesterday
and if doesn't work, whatever! you got a ton of contracts coming off the books, young guys to build around and money to spend

It'd be kind of funny if the Raptors are not good because of mopey Kawhi and the Spurs are back to being a top 3 team in the West.

Y’all need to stop sleeping on Utah. Denver . Doesn’t seem right to compare a team that missed the playoffs to a team that’s returning every rotation player from a squad that made the conference semis last year.

Melo and a protected 1st round pick to the Hawks for Dennis Schröder and he'll be waived.

this melo thing is kinda confusing...
@wojespn Oklahoma City has agreed to trade Carmelo Anthony and a protected 2022 first-round pick to Atlanta for point guard Dennis Schroder and Mike Muscala, league sources tell ESPN. Anthony will be waived, and he will join team of his choice. Rockets are frontrunner.
@shamscharania Sources: As part of multi-team Carmelo Anthony/Dennis Schröder deal, Atlanta's Mike Muscala will go to Philadelphia, 76ers' Timothé Luwawu-Cabarrot will be traded to Oklahoma City and 76ers' Justin Anderson to Atlanta.
@bobbymarks42 Oklahoma City was able to accomplish two things by trading Carmelo Anthony to Atlanta, improve the roster while saving $73M this season. The Thunder will now see their projected luxury tax bill drop from $150M to $88.8M, a savings of $62M.
