Crazy how few homeowners in the area had flood insurance prior to the storm. It should be a requirement in coastal cities. I believe it's a requirement to obtain a mortgage in any area near the coast in Florida.

a guy on my facebook posted this super excited "traveling to" status about how he's going to a wedding this weekend.....in houston. everyone was like, how are you going to houston, isn't it flooded? and he said, i've heard it's gone down. lmao.

It's been weird reading stories about how people are either trying to salvage all of their belongings or to shore up their property against still rising flood waters and some dude will randomly go by them wearing full training gear on his $5k bike.

Goddamn, guys:
More than 70 percent of households in Puerto Rico were without power. On St. Martin, an official said 95 percent of the island was destroyed. The Haitian government called for all agencies, stores and banks to shut down as the storm hit. Prime Minister Gaston Browne of Antigua and Barbuda said that half of Barbuda had been left homeless.

They boarded up their houses a few days ago already, they're going to ride it out. Hopefully they should be okay.

It’s been mid-high 80s in NYC today. But yeah, it looks to cool off a bit as of tomorrow. My AC just isn’t really working so it’s been miserable.

went home for lunch and it started sleeting for a few minutes. no big deal since it's done worse earlier than this in okc, but it's 45° and partly sunny.
