Did they not put RtJ2 on the list? Probably one of their better aoty picks over the last decade. Blonde at 1 seems fine but I wouldn't say it's better than MBDTF
Edit: nvm

RTJ2 is at like 131. To be fair 2014 was probably the weakest year this decade.

i'm happy that they realized the mitski album is just okay and that pop music is good in the last three years personally

Some other fun notes upon a second viewing:
The Tragedy of Mark Kozelek has concluded with Benji falling from a 9.2 review, to #9 on their mid-decade list, to now off the list entirely. RIP.
Also, I'm also surprised Nick Cave isn't on here at all.

I'm happy for Fiona's placement. Idler Wheel is in contention for my top spot for sure. What I'm not a big fan of, and it was the same issue as the last one they did, is the amount of 2019 releases on their lists. Maybe I'm just weird but it takes an album maturing for me to really appreciate it and consider it a classic.

oh damn i didnt realize the m b v exclusion. that's bad. Maybe some pitchfork staffers have never listened to it cause it isn’t on streaming services Also no slowdive Also lol @ giving the new angel an 8.9 and not having it somewhere on there. “My woman” not being on there at all is also a crime

Fuck it, I feel like chucking more shitty takes out here:
Shoutout to Pitchfork to remembering some bands: Downtown Boys, G.L.O.S.S, Sleigh Bells, Nicolas Jaar, Emeralds, Tim Hecker, The Hotelier, Death Grips, EMA, Caribou, Joyce Manor
Silly that Pitchfork forgot: No Age, Woods, James Blake, Purity Ring, Schoolboy Q, name a Ty Segall project, My Bloody Valentine, Nick Cave, Cloud Nothings, Thundercat, The first Whitney album, YG, Japanese Breakfast, Mac Miller, Slowdive. I assume that they wanted to try to keep it to one album per artist but these feel like oversights. I am sure at least one of them is actually on there and I can't read!
I cannot believe Run the Jewels is that low on their list. I know that was one of the weakest years if the not the weakest of the decade, but considering how crazy of a success story is how they both combined after arguably the highlight albums of their careers, it feels like the biggest slight. Maybe bigger than the above actually being off the list.
I've decided I'm gonna be annoyed at every list out before the actual decade is up now.
"Looks like the list of a company who sold out and then abruptly changed direction midway through the decade"- text I got this morning

I remember that night so well. It was an event release on par with Blonde, A Moon Shaped Pool, and others. It should have been on the list.

I really do believe it isn't on there solely because it's not on streaming services and Pitchfork staffers my age have never listened to it Fun fact! mbv was the first album I reviewed for my high school's newspaper. I had heard Loveless before but didn't know the lore behind its creation and subsequent delays on its follow-up. I was just like - "Oh, this record's getting a lot of good attention - hey Mr. J, can I review it?" - as if it were a normal release. Edit: I was also so hype to review it that I bought that mf'er on iTunes. RIP to a real one.

On the flip side, I'm happy some of my favorites landed on the list that other lists have omitted like King Krule, Low, and Iceage (tho it should have been Plowing into the Field of Love).
