Had tripe for what I think was the first time a couple of weeks ago at a dim sum place. Wasn't terrible, but I don't think I'd go out of my way to have it again. The Polish bakery/deli I worked at made an incredibly popular tripe soup that I thought looked really gross. Maybe I was missing out. With tripe, I think it's all about the sauces and seasonings it's cooked in because the meat itself isn't that great in terms of taste or texture.

For sure. The dish we had was with ginger and garlic, which was pretty alright.

(and even that one doesn't trigger a gag reflex... I just strongly dislike it)

Also, I really really really like licorice and brussel sprouts, and never understood why so many people hate them (especially sprouts)

What is the difference between over easy and over medium? Can we agree that sunny side up are gross? Actually my second favourite way to eat an egg, right after soft-boiled egg (in the latter case, after having sliced up the top and drowed a piece of salted butter in the yoke)

I thought this would be a list of stuff like fried crickets, brain, lengua, etc. It's literally just "list of normal food". My answer is correctly 0. I know right? Mind you, fried cricket is pretty harmless... feel like eating a potato chip (though not sure if I would eat a non-fried one). Also, if well prepared, a lengua can be surpringly tasty and not really chewy

Lengua is awesome. I would always get it in my burrito at TBP (RIP) before shows at Lincoln Hall.
I've been eating it since I before I knew what it was because of the way my mom cooked it while growing up.

Also and more generally... #FirstWorldProblem the usage of a first world/third world dichotomy is rooted in colonialism and exploitation of developing nations and implies a superiority to white colonialist powers

I only had three.
1. raw tomatoes 2. cooked tomatoes (I can eat them cooked if they are small pieces like in chili, but not big chunks) 3. cilantro (my stomach doesn't do well with cilantro)
On the subject of calf brains...I think my mom used to cook them when I was really little but I can't say that I actually remember what they tastes like. I'm not in any hurry to try them again, but if I was offered, I might take a bite out of curiosity.

What’s everyone’s weirdest one? Mine is bananas Out of the measly four boxes I ticked, this is easily the strangest.
It's been a life-long distaste, and I'm happy to have company.

My wife has to leave the room if I unpeel a banana. She gets pissed at me if I leave the peel in the garbage too long.

Maybe the food with the widest range of quality depending on how well it's cooked?

Until I came across this page, my bf was the only banana-disliking person I knew.
He does like plantain though..

My girlfriend doesn't like bananas either. Or any kind of shellfish. Or sushi, meatloaf, mushrooms, or raw onions. She's pretty 'plain Jane' when it comes to food, and admits it.
I don't like popcorn though.

A friend of mine doesn't like bananas because he had to take a banana-flavored medication as a child.
The rest of you are weirdos.

I barfed something banana flavored as a kid. Used to love them. I can still do banana bread, I just couldn’t eat one straight like I would with other fruit

First time I got very very drunk I drank a bottle of banana schnapps. I wasn’t 21 and it was available. Still love bananas even with all of the vomiting that occurred that night.

I don't like popcorn though. I have always found regular popcorn (to which my boyfriend is seriously addicted) pretty frustrating... so much air and so little content I do quite enjoy the harder, caramel-coated, one though..

Casu marzu (aka the Italian maggot-infested cheese) Oh and also, a balut egg (pro tip - do NOT google-image either...) My uncle always used to tell us when we were growing up that balut was sold late at night in the streets because you don't want to see it while you eat it. Oh yeah, and then a friend of mine told me he was doing okay with it until he peeked into the shell and could see the bird peeking back out at him (the way to eat balut is to poke a hole into the shell, drink the juice, and then open up the shell and eat the flesh).

Semi-related question:
At what point would you have tapped out of the feast in Temple of Doom?
I don't think I could have handled the snakes.

Semi-related question: At what point would you have tapped out of the feast in Temple of Doom? I don't think I could have handled the snakes. Remind me what were the "delicacies" making up that feast? As for snakes, I would eat them way before a heavy fertilized ballut egg (apparenly ballut eggs come either light fertilized or heavy fertilized...) or a maggot-infested cheese. But hopefully I will never have to eat any of these
