I like seeing different top 10s. No offense to Frank, but its cool to see things like FJM, Passion Pit, Phoebe Bridgers, etc. Keep em coming yall I'm not sure if Timbo is against my list or not because it covers all of the bases besides having Passion Pit in the top ten. I will say this. I was finishing up my list in a laundromat yesterday and saw Passion Pit so far up on a few lists. I gave another listen to Gossamer while my laundry was spinning. I totally forgot about that album and thank you so much because I listened it and so many flashback from college hit. I'm not sure if it's shared by people that ranked it high but I absolutely love "Constant Conversations" and think its the best on the album.

I played the shit out of Gossamer. In fact, when I saw it on a few lists, I tossed it on and the wife was surprised by given how little pop I listen to these days.
It's still one of those feel good albums. Danceable, shout out loud anthems. Definitely PP's best album.

Pitchfork had an awesome in depth interview when that album came out about the story behind it and his mental health struggles. It's great and poppy but the lyrics have always been my favorite part of this album, pretty open and depressing. The disparity between the poppiness/euphoria of the songs and the bleak lyrics perfectly encapsulates a manic episode. Take a Walk and Carried Away are great and all but I've always loved Cry Like a Ghost, It's Not My Fault I'm Happy, and I'll Be Alright have always been my favorites. The article.

I also just remember that I saw them at the Lolla aftershow that Thursday of 2012. It was their first show after he cancelled a bunch for mental health reasons and maybe even the first one after Gossamer came out? Anyway, the energy in HoB was insane. Despite not really camping (got there like an hour before doors which was really risking it for me at the time) I made it front and center. During some technical difficulties Michael started having a convo with me, even putting the microphone in my face to speak into it, complimenting me on my Unknown Pleasures shirt and asking me where I got it. Felt weird then and still feels weird now.

Yep, I'm stanning that album too, definitely one of my favorites of the decade. The thing I've never understood is I think I've probably seen them maybe 6 times since that album came out, and I have not once seen them play Hideaway. For some reason, they just do not do that song live. I could understand if it was one of the really personal songs on the album dealing with his issues, but it doesn't seem to be.

I wasn't a PP fan prior, but that pitchfork interview is what made me give them another chance and I ended up loving Gossamer. I think the interview came out the week before the record or something. neader I was at that HOB aftershow and its probably a top 10 all timer for me. Had no idea that was you that he interacted with (doubt we knew each other in 2012) but I absolutely remember that. The crowd interactions stick out in my mind because there was so much chatter before the show about him / the article / etc, they seemed extra special.

Yeah at the time it felt legendary. Even while we were in there people were still speculating that it was going to be cancelled but boy did he come out and own that stage. Definitely understand why it'd be an all timer, it's probably up there for me as well and definitely the best show of the 5 times I've seen them (Royal Oak 6/25/2010 [which is my first concert I went to without my mom having to drive me and attend!], Lolla aftershow, Lolla, Roo 2013, and sometime in November of 2013). There might be a #6 somewhere that I'm forgetting. Seems insane that I saw them so much in a two year period but haven't seen them since.

You should see them whenever he decides to tour again. I saw the Manners anniversary show, he still seemed to be enjoying himself. And the crowd was still going nuts, like I said in the review at the time, I think moreso for songs like 1985, but it was still a great time.

I think it's just the stars haven't aligned in terms of locations. Would travel for a Gossamer show in a heartbeat though.

Also Chunk of Change is extremely underrated. Every song except for Cuddle Fuddle is phenomenal.

I think I've seen them 4 times post-gossamer and its just never been even close to as good as that HOB show
They're always fun but that night was on another level

Definitely keep tweet's list. Even if he doesn't come back, he's been a key part of this board for a long time now.

I was thinking more like b/c it's unfinished should we count it, not a "b/c he's gone he doesn't count." I can see how my original post could be taken that way so my apologies.

My list is done and I’ma post it this afternoon. While y’all’s lists have been great, I’ve noticed a disturbing lack of Titus Andronicus and Joanna Newsom near the top? Time to fix this.

I was thinking more like b/c it's unfinished should we count it He did say he was going to tweak it, but he's got a full 100 listed, and it sounds like his changes would be more minor shuffling than wholesale overhaul. I say count it.

Put my list up! Some notes below:
-- I had a hard time figuring out where to slot in 2019 albums. I thought it was a great year, but it was difficult to place stuff from like 4 months ago in with stuff I've loved for years. Ended up only putting one 2019 record in my top 40, but those would prolly move up if re-ranking in a year.
-- I broke the rules a few times here (Screaming Females live album / Day of the Dead comp) - but whatever, those records are legit important to me (one of the best guitar records of the decade and my main gateway into the Dead) and they're ranked low enough that they won't affect our overall rankings.
-- It was really hard to rank the top 10; I basically had to re-listen to everything and go with left me the most affected in 2020.
