Riot Fest 2021

Gotta feel for Riot Fest. They seemed set for a killer 2020/2021 initially and have had to juggle more changes than any other festival this cycle. Props to them for coming up with high level replacements on such short notice and not just bumping people up.

That said, I was starting to regret pushing my 2021 tickets to 2022 and was reconsidering going until this announcement. Slipknot just isn't a needle mover for me, and NIN was a big part of the appeal.

White Lung is no longer on the lineup too, it appears.

Something called The Clockworks, who are opening for The Pixies tour, took their place.

I'm guessing line-up changes are going to keep rolling in over the next month. Hopefully the NIN change is the only large change but I've got a feeling somebody else on the top lines is going to drop as well.

Hearing the news of NIN dropping was definitely a gut punch today.. Didn't hear about Slipknot replacing them until I hopped on the board after work. Seems like a serious downgrade considering last time I saw Slipknot I was about 20 feet from the stage in front row 100 level seats I bought for $10 day of show in my backyard (Bloomington)

I'm fine with it, as I would never likely see Slipknot anywhere else.

I mean I wrote this festival off in June 2020 so I'm gonna go regardless. The odds of me going to Dead & Co. and skipping Saturday completely are still on the table but I'm hard pressed to think of a better time on Friday and Sunday.

I listened to Iowa once and thought it was good- do I need to make any sort of effort on any of their releases otherwise

Took me all of this to realize I've never knowingly listened to a Slipknot song, but it does seem like there'd be some crossover between the fanbases.

I like Martyr's but I will say that their draft beer always tastes a little funny and I never learn my lesson

You know what would be awesome? If they got Original Misfits to replace Slipknot. They're playing Aftershock a few weeks later, so they should be good to go. Aftershock is sold out so they shouldn't mind not having their only 2021 performance. Of course people who transferred tickets to 2022 might be pissed, but these are desperate times.
