Not a dumb purchase really, but I found it funny that I bought one of my kid's christmas presents Saturday night at like 9:30 before I went into the EMA show at the Bottle, and before 11:00, I got a notification that the toy was already being shipped. I'm glad I gave the people working the warehouse late Saturday night something to do.

I've been using these Plantronics Backbeat Fit headphones for the past month or two and I like them pretty well. They are an open-ear design so you can jam some tunes, but still hear what's going on around you. After some tinkering, they fit well (and secure) in the ears. I've worn them for a solid two hours without my ears feeling fatigued. Sound is decent, but they are not ideal for noisy environments such as being on an airplane or a subway. There are refurbished models available and a few different colors, so I suggest doing a Google search because there may be a better price out there. These Senso earphones have a more traditional earbud design that will seal out external noise. I don't have personal experience with them, but I read a good review about them, so they were on my radar. I noticed a neighbor had a pair and when I asked for her review, she indicated that she was quite pleased with them.

bought a transporter tube to carry gig posters Someone is going to dump a $10 beer on your head when you continually hit people with that thing during a show.

At least the transporter tube will be water-proof.

At least people will be able to find their friends. "Hey, I'm here. Where are you?" "Right by this motherfucker with the giant poster tube. I can only assume he's a graduate assistant who got lost or something. You know what? Let me find you."

I'll be more than willing to hold boarder's posters on Sat. Just find the dingus with the transparent poster tube.

You know how the sticker price at Men's Wearhouse is never what you actually pay? Well Friday I spent under $300 and "saved" $1480.62.

If you haven't made a purchase yet, these Bose Soundsports are my favorite earbuds and they're just under $100 if you select the aqua or citron version. Excellent fit, super comfortable and they sound great. Despite sweating profusely while jogging, these earbuds stay in place and didn't short out. They're also the best earbuds experience I've had for making phone calls with my mobile phone. Good sound, good microphone and easier to speak with a normal tone/volume thanks to the open-ear design. Again, they're not going to seal out the outside world, but I personally prefer that as I prefer to be aware of my surroundings.

Make sure you apply for the rebates from ComEd ($100) and Nicor ($50). It's almost free once you get them.

Adulting 101
1. Last week our refridgerator goes out. 2. Buy one at Best Buy. 3. They come to install it. "sorry, you need a shut off valve directly behind the fridge and not under the sink [which is only 3 feet away]. we can't install it. you need a new water line" 4. Call plumber to install water line from sink to wall. "this is elective so it's not covered under your home warrenty. please pay full price." 5. Waiting for Best Buy to come back today and finally install....and waiting...
