Adulting 101 1. Last week our refridgerator goes out. 2. Buy one at Best Buy. 3. They come to install it. "sorry, you need a shut off valve directly behind the fridge and not under the sink [which is only 3 feet away]. we can't install it. you need a new water line" 4. Call plumber to install water line from sink to wall. "this is elective so it's not covered under your home warrenty. please pay full price." 5. Waiting for Best Buy to come back today and finally install....and waiting... WOOF. That's a pain in the nuts, man.

Yeah I wrote about Best Buy elsewhere on the board - their appliance delivery and installation process is a dumpster fire. We had an uninstalled dishwasher sitting in our kitchen for about a week because they have 4 (!) separate deliver/install teams and we were sent the incorrect one.

a month ago, our 27-year old dryer quit heating. doing some quick looking around before the repairman came out, i was overwhelmed by all the choices. glad it was just a fuse and thermostat and $180 later, my dryer is heading into its 28th year! glad i didn't have to mess around with that buying process.

I got one of these: I love the idea of more instant results rather than just a huge amount of pictures on my phone that I ultimately forget about.

Since wearing these while watching TV or working on the computer, I have zero headaches now simply because these glasses reflect blue light which causes eye strain for some folks. I guess they're not a stupid purchase but they are a bit silly to wear.

I know we've done this a bunch, but I couldn't find anything in depth on this board. I'm looking for a nice pair of wireless headphones. I think I would prefer earbuds, but I'm not necessarily opposed to over-ear ones. Ideally <$200.
Any recs?

I know they're cheap but they sound great and stay in really well and I don't have to worry about them breaking or losing them because they don't cost an arm and a leg.

I've tried a bunch of different styles over the past few years and the Bose Soundsports are my faves by far. Unfortunately they're no longer being discounted like they were during the holidays. The main attributes for me are: - Comfort: I can keep these in for a long time without becoming fatigued (Mpows hurt my ears after 45 minutes or so)
- Open-ear design: These do not totally seal the ear canal, so it's easier to be aware of your environment*
- Phone call quality: I prefer to use these for phone calls lasting longer than a couple of minutes and they work much better than others earphone with built-in mics
* - I realize some people want to be sealed off from the world when listening to music. I prefer to be able to hear some of the outside world if I'm on the street or riding the subway.Additional pros include the sound quality being generally excellent, the thoughtful clip on the cord to keep things from tugging to one side or another and the stability, even when I get sweaty.

Thanks y'all. I'm leaning towards the Bose ones that doso mentioned cuz they wouldn't be so much for working out as convenience at my desk or while commuting, although I suppose they would come in handy if I ever decided to excercise (lol).

I think that sony mdr-zx770bn over ear headphones are fantastic for all the important stuff: sound quality, comfort, call quality, ease of use, and battery life.

There's a place in Denver that sells a variety of vintage ski resort posters. I've always been tempted to get a couple.

I love vintage maps, too. We have an 19th century map of the state of Kentucky framed in our living room. It's incredibly detailed and even has a marker for my wife's hometown (a town of several hundred people). There's a similar map of Chicago I've been trying to get, but I'd like the price to go down.

Wayfair had vintage Chicago maps on sale. At least 50% off depending on the size and it's canvas-wrapped

We ordered an OLED TV on Friday. Should be here before the Super Bowl (pending timely final mile delivery from UPS).
