Like all they have is 1B/C/DH on this roster and I'd feel a helluva lot more comfortable putting him at 3B instead of an OF position so we can at least see his bat at the ML level. True, although I'd imagine he's absolutely atrocious at 3rd. I think I'd rather see him at 1st and Vaughn at 3rd if they are getting wacky with the lineups, since he has some semblance of athleticism.

No way they have Vaughn with the big league roster this season, though. May as well give him reps and maybe he looks like vintage Panda out there.

Bummed they didn't just bump the Colorado dates to 2021. I was super hyped for those games. Hopefully I can make it back to Chicago when they're actually in town.

Same, I was really looking forward to visiting Denver for the first time and going to those. Not really any great opportunities to travel to away games now. Those Baltimore games before the All-Star Break I guess?

Buster Posey has opted out

I suspected he had been debating whether to play or not. That's a huge blow for SF and MLB in general.

Would probably be a bigger blow to MLB if he got COVID and died.

Would probably be a bigger blow to MLB if he got COVID and died. That's generally not how that works, and not why he opted out. I'm also not criticizing his decision, just pointing out it's a big deal that former MVP Buster Posey has opted out. No need for sensationalism.

However, I’m not really sure how big of a blow it is to MLB. It’s not like they’ve done anything to make their players marketable.

Ha didn’t even think of that throughout his absence. Good for him. He just got married and is coming off an injury. No reason to risk his health for a bullpen job.

I saw the last MLB game Kopech threw. I distinctly remember looking at my (at the time) partner's dad and he and I discussing that he just didn't look right throwing out there. They were playing the Tigers and he gave up like 2-3 dingers, and at least 2 of them were no doubters.
