I'd say you could make as good an argument as any that the char dog at Weiner circle is the best hot dog in the city.
Same argument couldn't be made about Giordano's or Lou's being the best deep dish or Al's having the best Italian beef

Is/Was soft opened over the weekend in the space where Metropolitan and Urban Brew Labs used to be. Looks like it's a weekend-only taproom until next month.

That's awesome news. Yes! I didn't stop in but the taproom looks nice. I'm not familiar with Is/Was, but they seem to be known for their saisons.

oh, wow. what a novel idea in a neighborhood that's had significant development over the last several years. only about 20-some years too late to really get the ball rolling there.

Let's just start by getting that green line stop before taking away all the parking.

it was adorable to see the city doing a sweaty last-minute spruce-up of the washington blue line station ahead of the dnc. i'm sure some repainted columns will convince people that it's actually pretty nice in there

dog is shaking like a leaf and won't eat the cbd stick so we shoved it through a hot dog, so naturally the jagoff ate around it.

yesterday, we walked over to Retro on Roscoe, to see the band, One Of The Boyzz. They are one of the spin-offs of late 1970's suburban Chicago hard rock / biker band, The Boyzz. They covered 2 of the 3 local hits of the Boyzz, along w/ covers of Deep Purple, Otis Redding, the Doors, and Bo Diddley. A woman who used to work in sales for WXRT and other stations, and who now works on her harmonica playing, joined them for a couple of songs.
During band introductions, the lead vocalist mentioned the name of the band's bassist, and the better half recognized his name immediately -- he had gone to Catholic grade school with the better half's older sister, and had married one of the women with whom the better half had gone to a Catholic girls high school that has since closed.
The bassist has apparently been playing bass with the lead vocalist in various groups for 20 years, and when not playing bass, was the managing attorney of a law firm of more than 50 lawyers.

is there any decent pre-show spot for northerly? something with an easy walk or bus ride to venue? or is it just easiest to pick a random spot downtown then uber over?
i've somehow never been but have obv only heard bad things about the location.

Roosevelt L is a 20 minute walk from the venue and the 146 gets you out somewhat quickly
As far as a pregame spot ehhh not really. I like Aurelio’s as a hometown childhood nostalgia thing but it’s not really “a spot”
