Let's talk about 2 things that I know this board loves: shitty pop songs and being woke. My brother sent me a playlist today that was culled from some anthropologist doing research on certain music does to certain people/moods. Anyway, this is a 600 song playlist of, well...
Remember if you do not agree with this playlist you are a science denier and a Trump voter.

Complete disrespect to Fountains of Wayne by putting them at the top of that playlist

one of my first posts on the original board said that Fountains of Wayne was bad and someone responded that I was probably only judging them by Stacy's Mom and I said no I'm not I have an extensive knowledge of their catalogue. I was lying

Complete disrespect to Fountains of Wayne by putting them at the top of that playlist I agree that the order could probably be worked on. Having said that I will play this playlist the next time I am at a (white) social function and report back. I imagine it will be 100% accurate

I was lying that sounds like a thing i would've said but i absolutely don't know a single other FoW song so i would've also been lying. (i think you joined well before i did tho)

that playlist reminds me of my roommate sophomore year of college who had a CD of the top 20 songs from 2004 that he just played on his speakers on repeat every night while he read/studied and i wanted to killed him in his sleep.
he also absolutely became possessed the week after i brought home a ouija board and that's actually why i wanted to kill him but that's a very different story.

One more note on this topic: my days of pre-ordering LPs began and ended with Animal Collective's Painting With it just hit how young MM is lol Worst part was I streamed the album before the record came in the mail so opening up the LP was just a sad affair

I don't think I've ever heard a Fountains of Wayne song.

I mean, in light of recent policy changes, I think all it needs it a couple of beanbags and a stereo to be everything you could want. Consider also: tapestries, lava lamps, twinkle lights, fog machines, candy bowl Very much trust that this is happening but also I would like an office

I got a Ouija board back in 6th grade because for some reason I suddenly became obsessed with them. The last time we used it, a friend of ours asked it how she would die. My sister and I freaked out and were like, "You're NEVER supposed to ask it stuff like that." Our friend just laughed. A few years later, she shot herself with a shotgun. That was the last time we ever touched that Ouija board. I don't even want to be in the same room with it.

I am listening to the second franz Ferdinand album right now (timely) and I can’t say I ever paid attention to the lyrics but I am now. It’s kinda odd to discover new stuff about music that caught on and you remember being very ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ at
Am I doing this thread right

"one of the better" is pretty broad and a fairly low bar. Makes sense that Beach Slang, a band that I have to date not listened to and have no plans to, could fall under such a category. I thought you said “pretty board and a fairly low bar,” which could also be true in this case

That's definitely the vibe I'm getting. I've liked at the Malkmus stuff I've heard, and I've heard a few of these songs for sure, I just hadn't started to dig in before.

I'm really looking forward to new music from King Krule a lot, but the thing I'm most anticipating is the return (hopefully) of Fiona Apple. The Idler Wheel.... is (spoiler alert) in my top 5 of the decade. She has such a powerful visual portraiting that is incredible to me. Really hope she tours too.
