My folks hated Tommy Thompson so much that they tore his picture out of the rest area state map we kept in the car. 🚨 new best friend alert 🚨

I keep getting Spotify ads for this podcast that I guess is about history. The promo copy says "In the 1930s, a new class of world leaders decided to rethink society. The only problem? they were evil" and it makes me crack up every time

I am late but yes this podcast kills every week. ‘Peeper vs. Larry Flynt’ ended me.

Listening to The Dream the last few days and really enjoying it. It's about multi-level marketing schemes (apparently not Pyramid schemes...strictly speaking). Really interesting to hear about how it all works from people who are/were in them.

It is absolutely insane the people I know that are involved how it totally consumes every aspect of their lives. Their friends become fellow coworkers, their "vacations" are company sponsored, everything they do is in some way, shape, or form directly linked to it. It's remarkable the length they go to create a facade of this luxurious lifestyle they are living when almost all data points to it being a huge financial blackhole.

and just went on ig after posting that and a girl i know from high school posted an email saying she's getting like $614 and saying if you want to make this type of money in 1.5 days lmk!!!

That's definitely the impression I'm getting even just from the first few episodes. I don't know anyone directly who is involved in one but it's insane how all-consuming it is.
Also find the closed business side of things super interesting, where the 'distributors' are paying essentially retail price for the goods...It all seems like the kind of thing where before you know it you're a few thousand dollars in the hole and the only way you can see out is to keep digging, entrenching yourself more and more in the scheme (potentially dragging in many others along the way). All the while you're probably buying more and more into the cultish hype from the company. It's pretty depressing when you think about it.

They absolutely prey on the weakest and most vulnerable people in our society, who in turn do the same things to others hoping it gets them a sale. I don't know why but I've always been so fascinated by it, maybe just the huge disconnect between perception and reality.

I thought season one was very good but I couldn’t get through season 2. Felt like there was very little substance and the host was just ignoring the obvious reason for the stuff that isn’t really hurting anyone to create enough content to justify the shows existence

open.spotify.com/episode/0CaOGo6xSN51B2aLAQa1kUA man in California is haunted by the memory of a pop song from his youth. He can remember the lyrics and the melody. But the song itself has vanished, completely scrubbed from the internet. PJ takes on the Super Tech Support case.I listened to this episode this morning and thought the Board would enjoy. Basically is a real life version of this Pete & Pete episode...

I've always thought the best Oh Hello content was the two of them as guests on CBB. Just an excellent format for that schtick. Wonder if it'll hold up on a weekly basis though.

I am also enjoying the Oh Hello podcast. Would've gone with maybe half as many of the fake ads though.
There are like five different moments in last week's Flagrant Ones that I'm still laughing about today.

Flagrant Ones is perfect.
There’s also an entire Bonanas for Bonanza series now, with Andy Daly as Dalton Wilcox hosting. It is fire

very weird top 10. the Leo Carpazzi bit is great but it's one joke. I guess they wanted to keep characters who accompany each other together on the list, but Willy taking up a top 10 spot is nuts even if Victor and Tiny are worthy. And the idea of Scott doing a half-assed character is better than Dabney actually is.

I’ll stan Leo Carpatze. A weird list though. Nothing more interesting than reading descriptions of improv comedy lol.

If you like Vampire Weekend at all there’s a podcast called The Never Tour put together by the guy who runs the VW bootleg site sukadogdik.com. Each week they highlight a different era of the band’s live performances. There’s no talking at all, just 35 or so solid minutes of live bootleg. This week they’re getting into the summer of 2018 when the band re-emerged from their hiatus. It’s really nice to listen to, I would highly recommend giving it a listen if you like the band.

Been really enjoying Blocked Party lately, several of the segments on the 100th episode were funny enough that I had to pause them so I didn’t miss anything.
