Made good on the time there was a board box and I had to bail on as I suffered my first anxiety attack a couple hours before. Inspiring stuff!

on this day in 2009, i saw the fiery furnaces at schubas. and in 2010 i saw the hold steady at lincoln hall. for the latter i went with a bunch of friends who hadn't seen each other in a while. one guy's wife did not really want to be there, but the hold steady's her husband's favorite band so she just dealt with it.

Was that the seated Fiery Furnaces show at Schubas? Can't remember what year they did that.
On this date in 2011 we saw The Hood Internet at Lincoln Hall as part of their NYE shows. That was a wild one.

I was at that Hold Steady LH show, seem to remember enjoying it. We saw Butch Walker at Double Door 8 years ago today. We were stuck in the back by the back wall, did not enjoy it.

Was that the seated Fiery Furnaces show at Schubas? Can't remember what year they did that. that doesn't ring a bell. but all i really recall about that show is eleanor talking about growing up in oak park and how much of their family was at schubas that night.

It is the most recent show I’ve been to, because I’m not counting the Simon &Garfunkel play I saw that was basically really good karaoke/cover band.

That Disappears show was everything a NYE show should be, honestly.

I think the only NYE show I've ever gone to was Black Joe Lewis & the Honeybears at the Double Door to close out 2011. There was an open bar and the show was lit.

Typically don't do NYE shows, but Marked Men/Bad Sports at the Bottle in like...2012? was an all-timer.

Never been to a show on NYE - closest was MMJ with The Revolution opening a day or two before.
I don't know, concerts to ring in the New Year haven't really appealed to me. They're always overpriced and I'd rather just hang out with friends/family and drink booze of my choice.

Typically don't do NYE shows, but Marked Men/Bad Sports at the Bottle in like...2012? was an all-timer. i was kind of annoyed that i couldn't go to that since i'd wanted to see marked men forever. i think also mind spiders played the night before. but i did spend that new year's in sydney and saw marked men a few years later, so it turned out ok.

One of my all-time Top 5 shows ever was the Flaming Lips with Hum at Metro NYE 2000.
Hum was supposed to do a huge tour opening for the Pumpkins for Downward is Heavenward, but they got in a bad accident in their van, and ended up deciding to break up. This show was basically their last show til they reunited a few years back.
The Lips were great, they did not open with Race for the Prize on purpose, which was already their usual opener at that time. My wife and I had a spot right in the rail of the balcony right above one of those huge fans. Someone who worked for the band handed us and everyone up their huge bags of confetti, and told us to wait for the cue. Right before midnight, Wayne told us to open the bags right at the countdown, and they did Race for the Prize then.

I love a NYE show but it has to be the right one with the right company. I have seen MMJ a bunch of times on NYE which always involves traveling and renting a house with friends and it's a great time.

went to a few flaming lips nye shows here in okc. they’d usually start after the thunder game ended across the street, and they’d play til almost midnight so everyone could go outside and watch the downtown okc fireworks show at midnight. was always a great time!

nana's nye shows in random order from memory without getting up off the couch to grab the trapper keeper: shows before I met the better half: -- cheap trick at the riviera with house of lords opening -- a bunch of shows over the yrs at joe segal's jazz showcase -- otis rush at wise fools pub on lincoln (this one was pretty great) -- nicholas tremulis band, very early on, but I don't remember the location.
shows with the better half: --soul asylum at the hob restaurant the yr karl mueller died, with fastball opening (pirner was on fire musically, vocally, and emotionally that night) -- the dandy warhols, with a guy from brmc opening (this may have been the day before nye whatever yr this was)
