I saw Matt and Kim back between my junior and senior year of high school. By chance I had hardly ate that day and was really into the show. Next thing I know I started seeing lights and my vision was blurry so I made a quick exit. Within 5 seconds of turning around and navigating throughout the crowd I went totally blind and some guy said "Dude...are you all right?" Somehow made it to the bar barely able to see and ordered a water. Put my head down on the bar and got an earful, got my water, when to the back and sat down and I could see again! Bout the closest I ever got not counting Macca at Lolla 15 which idek how close I got. Just heard a security guard pretended to look the other way.

Never been kicked out of a show, but one of my favorite memories from FFF fest (2012 I think?) was when Sutton got kicked out of the metal after show we were at for somehow falling asleep on the uncomfy wood benches at the venue. Nasty and teekoh were there too

Those Texans are trouble. Hansford got kicked out of a P4K after show for ...throwing a drink on someone? Slapping his hat?

Security was nice enough to wait until the show was over to actually ask Sutton to leave.

I don't think I've ever been kicked out of a concert, but shoutout to the time my mom got the family kicked out of a piano bar in Hells Kitchen.

it was his friend "ted," who was an attorney, but who now I think works at animal rescue in addition to or instead of trying cases. It was definitely Ted. Fuckin’ guy. Awww man

Only show I ever got kicked out of was because my friend and I were piss drunk and my friend kept recording and this 1 fat bald security guy had a boner for giving him shit about it.. they finally escorted us out, but the door security guy was like 80 years old.. so after the group of security that took us out walked back in, we just walked right past the old guy at the door, and he said "Have a good time" lol
edit: oh, show was something shitty like 5fdp and seether in peoria.

shoutout to the metro medic for nursing me back to health enough to see the show instead of making me go home. and shoutout to old boarder jasper jones for accompanying me. he's a regular at metro medic area after a friend of ours passed out during the rapture not long before that.

oh man i'd love a discussion on "shows we've been tossed from" I've never been tossed out of a show, but I have walked out of todd rundgren at the riviera after 2 songs because it was too boring still sitting here thinking about nana bailing on a show he bought tickets to after ~12 minutes because it was too boring

he even had roger powell from utopia with him in the band at the riviera show, but I just was not feeling it at all. and I'm not too sure that the tickets were too expensive back then; I'd guess less than $20, but I'll see if I can find the price from searching the web.

I walked out of a double bill of Built to Spill and Sleater-Kinney a long time ago after the opening band b/c I wasn't having a good time, and I wanted to leave. Oops.

Oops. oops is right! i walked out of a butthole surfers show after a few songs because they were terrible that night. so disinterested and just mumbling the words. after they played pepper, gibby said “ok now we got that out of the way you all can get the fuck out of here.” at least the openers were great - supersuckers / rev horton heat / toadies.

I recently uploaded all my concert videos from the past ~6 years to a Google Drive account and am now going through and labeling them. Whole thing is making me so nostalgic for shows and also reminding me of how much good shit I've seen / old albums I haven't revisited in a while. And I'm still too young to have any "I was there" moments, but the video of Phoebe Bridgers playing "Killer" in April 2016 is pretty cool. Same goes with Car Seat Headrest doing "Bodys" in fall 2015.
Edit: I also just realized I have a snippet of Lucy Dacus doing "Pillar of Truth" at the BMI Stage at Lolla 2016, two years before Historian came out. It's one of my favorites on that album (behind Night Shift obvs) and must have struck me in the moment too.

Saw majical cloudz this night in 2016. I was super into them at the time and bought a ticket day of online in a last minute Schubas guest list dump. Devon Welsh had a stage presence in this room that made me wanna try fucking around with music those years ago. Still haven’t done that yet in any seriousness, but I had never (to that point) so earnestly bought an entire act’s discog on vinyl after a show like that.
I think they called it quits like a month or two after that. I think the other guy was accused of something not great and I wound up selling those records, but it’s burned in the memory bank regardless.

That show was incredible, Devon totally had a magnetic aura to his stage presence. It's a shame that other dude was a POS. I haven't gone back to their music in a while, just haven't been in that mood, but Devon's solo stuff was pretty similar and cool too. One of my enduring memories of that show is the other dude having to take a piss in the middle of their set, and we all cleared an aisle through the center of the crowd, since there was no backstage. Again, boo on that guy, but that memory stuck with me.

And now let's play a round of: which show would you go to? Or, shit, for some of y'all - which show were you at?
I'm not familiar with King Kong, but it's hard to argue against Jim O'Rourke and Palace Brothers. Then again, a small venue Wilco show? And that Doug Sahm tribute is incredibly stacked too. Or the "early" Shellac and Thinking Fellers show? Ahhhhh
Edit: Some google calendar detective work tells me this poster is from 2000, btw.

Sheesh. Probably would go Shellac, but a Wolf Eyes set in 2000 would have been wild.

i wish there had been a blockbuster at fullerton and sheffield when i was getting off the train there every day the first john mayer show I ever saw was when he did an in-store at whatever branch of rose records or some other local record store chain was located in the depaul building on the southeast corner of the street.

on this day in 2008, i saw todd rundgren at park west.
one of my work friends is a huge fan and had an extra. when we get to the window to pick up the tickets, the woman says he's not on the list. she then checks the list for rundgren's other park west show, which is the next week. he's on that list. she says "come back tuesday." he gets really upset like "there's no way i would've bought tickets for a tuesday night show. i live in roselle. i don't come to the city on weeknights. i also have two kids under 5. there's just no way that's right." they go back and forth a little bit. the line behind us is getting long and it is awkward. she walks away for a minute and returns with two tickets.
but rundgren's got a cold and his voice isn't great. my friend is not thrilled with the setlist. overall, not the best night. but i'd still jump at going to a concert like that today.
