Just a heads up expect to spend at least an hour in line for Passport control if you are flying in from a non eu country. They didn't have many lanes open. Vax check was a breeze though. They just scanned my qr code

Yeah ours was probably two hours at least but fortunately about an hour in they randomly started pulling people out of line and let them use the EU passport line and we were among the chosen ones. I told Dad it was because he’s old and they were targeting seniors.
We used Aerobús to get to Placa de Catayluna and it couldn’t have been easier.

Did any of you have you flights connect anywhere else, or did you fly direct? I thought I wouldn't need a covid test for my flight there, but I'm connecting in Germany and I guess I may need one to connect there. This shit is so damn confusing.

I connected in Canada. For Toronto I just needed proof of vaccination. For Spain it was the QR code from the STPH site.

My connection’s in Frankfurt and my airline’s site says ‘proof of vaccination’ OR negative covid test result…. Throwing a rapid test in my bag in case but I’m pretty sure you’re in the clear… Also I was under the impression none of that mattered anyway for connecting flights. |

I made the mistake of listening to the HAAi album, now I have to try to squeeze part of her set in between Charli and Bicep. Great.
Also, is it really only going to be in the 70s there this week? I thought it was going to be like in the 90s or something. I'm perfectly fine with not sweating my ass off.

I finally landed on n Barcelona, about 24 hours later than I planned. It’s a bit after noon now and I’m hoping to make it into the fest by 6 for Faye, but before that I have to get through
customs, catch the shuttle to placa de cataluyna, check into my hotel, but some quick provisions (booze), hopefully catch a quick nap, then head into the festival
A lot more than I wanted to do my first day

Also, I’ve only been at my hotel for 20 minutes, but it rules. I didn’t even know I’d have my own outdoor balcony (with a sink for some reason?), and the blackout system here is awesome. I’m sitting in pitch black darkness right now, which is much more conducive for me sleeping than being on a plane

This is my first time so take this with a grain of salt but it does feel overcrowded. The main stage area is madness. The water situation is atrocious. You gave to buy from the bars and they all have 30+ min waits. Then they have to pour in a cup so you can’t take multiples. No refill stations I have seen. Fortunately we have VIP which is quite a bit better. Having a good time but just keep seeing things that seem messed up for an established festival. |

But it’s a pain getting over there and an even bigger pain getting back. The upside is that I doubt drink lines ever get too long? Fred Again.. ruled and might be my fave of the fest |

Had to call it early tonight. I was so beat after Fred Again.. and I just decided to conserve my energy since this is just the beginning. I also realized I've gotten about 3 hours of sleep in the last 40 hours, which left me a little on edge and grumpy today. Regardless of that and any frustrations I've had with the festival so far, I also had a really great time today and can't wait for tomorrow.
I also just noticed Beach Bunny got pushed back, and makes my decision about when to show up tomorrow easier. Beach Bunny> Weyes Blood> Wet Leg> Evian Christ> Little Simz> The National> Caribou> Jamie xx is just hanging out at the 4 main stages all day. Should be a lot more laid back day tomorrow (at least til the end)

It’s a total shitshow. Huge lines for everything. Auditori was impossible to get into, Bits is so detached from anything else there’s hardly a point going out there if you’re only interested in a single act. Leaving was a nightmare, with gigantic lines for all transport and 0 cabs available - even on the apps.
Bands were dope though. Pavement reunion is amazing, Charli was Charli, Black Midi were wild.

Prima at least acknowledged the bar situation. Hopefully they rectify it today. We left the fest a bit early, around 3:30 and only waited 15 min to board the bus. The bus drop off was only about 50 ft from our hotel entrance which was nice. Other than the aforementioned crowd/logistics issues we had a great time. Weather was ideal and it is a very coo location. Huge footprint though so a lot of walking and we didn’t even get over to Bits. We saw Kim Gordon > Les Savy Fav > Kacey > Charli > Tame Impala > 100 Gecs > Pavement > Big Feedia > Otoboke Beaver. Only bad set was Kacey who played tons of material from her shit latest album.

i'm pretty sure bar queues were an issue even when i last went in 2016. and that was also the only year i thought it was overcrowded. years before that were comfortably full, but the layout was different and i'm pretty sure daily capacity was much lower than now.
