I’ll have more on this later but this is absolutely happening. Votes won’t be due until later this summer. Is this is a long way to vote Disintegration the #1 album of the decade? Time will tell! Couple things: 1. Mookie pin this thread. Unpin the 2021 thread too god no one needs to read that anymore. 2. monasterymonochrome PM me whenever you're done being married and we'll figure out voting metrics, rollout, etc. 3. Votes will be due by midnight CST on Monday, August 29 with the results revealed the morning of Friday September 2. God willing it will be fun. 4. Think of this thread as a place to share. No "how have you not listened to this" or "wow why do you think this sucks" or whatever. Maybe you can say something to make a recommendation to a boarder who might like something, like hey wanny have you ever checked out the Pet Shop Boys I bet you would like the Pet Shop Boys. IDK the world is shitty right now, let's have fun with this over the summer, like a big long book club except with people you spend 8 hours a day online with.

If you were actually alive in the 1980s your vote might count double here who to say

In that case I'm throwing my double vote behind Pretty Hate Machine.

I mean, 1989 has enough major releases to make up an entire best-of 80s list.
Also, my double vote will go towards New Order Technique.

I'll be deciding between my two lame choices, Peter Gabriel's So and U2's The Joshua Tree

Gotta wait for my man monestary to get back to sort out the voting stuff but I really do like the idea of giving the olds some bonus points with their picks

I'll be deciding between my two lame choices, Peter Gabriel's So and U2's The Joshua Tree I have this on vinyl, I bought it a long time ago b/c my Dad had a turntable and I wanted 'Sledgehammer'. I never played it, but now that I have a turntable, I will. I have a few 80's albums I bought on vinyl for one or 2 songs that I never played and just went into a box. Mike+the Mechanics (self-titled) Steve Winwood - Back in the High Life (God, I think have Roll With It as well) The Police - Synchronicity Cutting Crew - Broadcast I also had Thriller, but that disappeared.

Top 10 1980s hip hop album It will probably be #2 on my list tbh Could be #4 on my hip hop list. Would have an extremely difficult time putting it above Eric B + Rakim, NWA, or Public Enemy

If I hadn’t heard it very early on in my exploration into genres outside of classic rock it probably wouldn’t land as high but it was very formative for me

3 Feet High and Rising has a deluxe 2-CD edition, and the 2nd disc is copy protected. I got it from the library and tried, that's how I know. Only CD I've ever had that experience with.

Doolittle and Pretty Hate Machine are maybe/probably my top choices.
I like both Disintegration and Technique, but neither would be my top choice from either band.

Was this the 3 Feet anniversary show with the live band? V good show. Highly recommend seeing De La whenever possible. It Takes a Nation is probably my top hip hop album from the ‘80s, followed closely by 3 Feet and Paid in Full.

It was in 2009 and that made me feel old. It’s one of the few times I ever made notes about a setlist. The encore was: Feel Good Inc. Rock Box Ring Ring Ring/Sir Duke/Paid in Full
