Pretty much everything REM released in the 80s should be considered, too.

Gotta wait for my man monestary to get back to sort out the voting stuff but I really do like the idea of giving the olds some bonus points with their picks good to reward people for being senile let's give boomers two electoral votes

Can't wait to get lumped in with the "olds" even though I wasn't even 10 when the decade ended.

Age is nothing but a number by which you may be judged by goodson.

The decade stuff is way too much thinking and research for me, so I always stay out of them, but I look forward to seeing the list. Maybe I can come up with 10

How many of us were at least teenagers by the end of the 80s?

Who here drank from a hose, didn’t wear seatbelts, played outside, learned to write in cursive, picked their presents out of the Sears Roebuck catalogue, and turned out JUST FINE

pretty sure it's doolittle. off the top of my head, this is probably my answer, with surfer rosa a close second. if you could combine the best material from lou reed's new sensations, mistrial, and new york into one 1980's album it would be pretty high up as well.

Also not sure if “JUST FINE” is a fair assessment, but I can’t blame that on the hose water, outdoors, cursive and/or Sears.

Also double votes for The Replacements’ Let It Be, Tim and PttM. And the Stones’ Tattoo You. And Springsteen’s The River and Nebraska.

Couple things: 1. Mookie pin this thread. Unpin the 2021 thread too god no one needs to read that anymore. 2. monasterymonochrome PM me whenever you're done being married and we'll figure out voting metrics, rollout, etc. 3. Votes will be due by midnight CST on Monday, August 29 with the results revealed the morning of Friday September 2. God willing it will be fun. 4. Think of this thread as a place to share. No "how have you not listened to this" or "wow why do you think this sucks" or whatever. Maybe you can say something to make a recommendation to a boarder who might like something, like hey wanny have you ever checked out the Pet Shop Boys I bet you would like the Pet Shop Boys. IDK the world is shitty right now, let's have fun with this over the summer, like a big long book club except with people you spend 8 hours a day online with. 5. I think it's this one or maybe this other one?

I just read an article about how the Great Salt Lake is drying up and how that’s going to hurt a lot of stuff.
Yes, the world is garbage and Pet Shop Boys are good.

a few albums that i will throw in:
rockpile - seconds of pleasure. this is a delightfully rollicking power-pop album. talk talk - spirit of eden. i know this gets a lot of love in the scope of influencing some major bands, but it's also a pretty good album on its own. richard & linda thompson - shoot out the lights. this might be the best album recorded by a couple while their marriage was falling apart. token entry - jaybird. behind some all-time cover art is a great NYHC record that i've always been a little surprised isn't lauded more against its peers.
