Chicano Batman were v fun at the streetfest on Lincoln last night Glad to hear it. I'm seeing them three times at festivals coming up. (80/35, Buzz Beach Ball, and Voodoo Fest)

Had a fantastic time at Dead & Co. Lucked out and got some solid seats for well below face on Friday & was able to score some free 3rd row tickets on Saturday. I had listened to a few live streams of this tour before, but Mayer blew away my expectations. Loved Oteil singing FOTM.

Shobaleader One was fantastic on Sunday. Highly recommend checking them out if you have a chance. The only bad thing was that they didn't have a waitress for our orchestra box

that was a v good show. as was Thou at Subt (who played "Into the Void," so it was quite a dadrockin' evening) Indeed. Both shows were excellent. False, Cloud Rat, and TALsounds were all very cool from the Subt show. Moloch didn't do much for me. And by the end of all that I was exhausted. I'm glad I stuck around for the second Goatse encore, but I bailed immediately after that. So tired.

Wolf Alice was a fun, albeit short set. The new songs were a bit bipolar, some very soft/sleepy and focusing on Ellie's vocals, while others sounded as though they wanted to be a hard rock band. I preferred those that fell into the latter category.
This was a clear undersell, so I imagine they'll be back around to play a bigger venue (Metro?) and a longer set at some point in the not too distant future.

Agree with Pale Hose. This feels like a mini tour to test out 4-5 new tracks prior to a major tour a likely Lolla 2018 set + an aftershow.

The only real dud was the opener, which seemed like a London Grammar b-side. The one that sounded like Elastica meets Black Sabbath was more of what I expect out of my Wolf Alice dollar.

Went to the Brauerhouse in Lombard for Diarrhea Planet last night, first time there. It's a little bar in a strip mall, half the crowd was a bunch of suburban bikers... Plus the venue had tables right in front of the stage all the way up until the first opener was finished, that was almost an ugly scene.
Something happened with the drummer from DP, they had to cancel a show the prior night, and the 5 remaining guys played last night, with one of the guitarists taking over on drums. Took a little of the energy out of their set as a result, but it was still a good time.
One of the openers was pretty good, Blood People, the singer reminded me a bit of Laura Jane Grace in her performance style, but the band was more rock than punk. Awful band name though.

Rammstein and Iron Maiden/Ghost trip to Vegas was awesome. Hanging out with Jay Sutton was a highlight as always. So much fun! There was a guy filming Ghost in front of us so Jay went and stood right in front of him and held his phone up. When the guy moved to the right Jay moved to the right, when the guy went left Jay went left. Phone still held up, not even on.

Setlist seems-- as is usual this tour-- very heavy on the new album. Were you guys fans of the album going in or do you feel the show transcended it?

They sounded better live than they do on the album but that's just me. I thought the new album was alright -- sounds like a Gorillaz album.

The new album sounded much better live. Really, everything they played sounded very good, so I didn't even care about the specifics of the setlist much.

80/35 was a bunch of fun over the weekend. The only disappointing aspect were the serious sound issues during Chicano Batman, but every other set sounded great.
Rankings: 1. Hop Along ('Tibetan Pop Stars'-> 'Sister Cities' will never not kill) 2. The Shins (Exceeded expectations by a long shot) 3. Charles Bradley 4. Diarrhea Planet 5. Bully 6. A Giant Dog 7. The Suburbs 8. Modern Life Is War 9. Lily DeTaeye 10. MGMT (Still the worst band anyone pretends to care about)
Not ranking Chicano Batman, but the two songs that didn't have sound issues were good. I'd definitely check them out again.

I take it they didn't play that Tears For Fears cover they busted out in Brooklyn? Hope their drummer is okay.

Nope, just covered the old version of "Shout" for a few seconds (the 60's version, not Tears for Fears), which wasn't going well.

Saw Natalie Prass last night, it was her second show out with her new band. They played a ton of new songs from her upcoming album, and they were all even more AM-radio light rock than the previous album was... I'll blame it on the band being new together, they were technically very competent, but there wasn't much feeling in their playing.
The opener Angelica Garcia was okay, she had about 20 minutes of good material when she would layer her vocals over herself with loops and stuff, but they had her play for a full hour, which was way too long.
