Absolutely will pass on their good wishes this weekend I got in line around 4:30 so by the time we got in I was pretty sticky and crabby, shots really turned it around. Also I found six bags of M&Ms in my purse this morning. Well done greedy last-night me.

Any idea what time they stopped letting people in at Chop Shop? Was thinking about walking over to get in line but it was already like 6:15 by the time I got home.

we were among the last 20 people from the general line to get in. so evidently you had to get there 1.5 hours before doors.

Charles Bradley was awesome last night. It was real hot inside, so I stayed outside for the Cool Kids set.
On a side note, I'd really like to know how much it costs Vans to put these shows on. Had a handful of older (45-50 ish) guys ask me what was going on & why the event was happening. They were confused.

Us older guys are easily confused.

Yeah I went to the House of Vans to watch a screening of Murder She Wrote and some hooligans were on stage playing this infernal rock n roll music.

Can't believe there were dads there and I missed it They were all nice dads. Seemed like they didn't turn anyone away yesterday which was surprising, but it was one in, one out for a while.

Phish was awesome last night. Got a 27-minute "Simple", which is probably the longest jam I've ever seen live.
Tonight should be awesome too.

You could probably get a lawn ticket for $20 tonight, but you can't see much from the lawn here.

You can't see much, but the sound is great and the video screen is pretty huge. Could do a lot worse for $20.

I'd actually probably be there if taking off work tomorrow was an option, but I do sincerely appreciate the thought.

Went to Forecastle yesterday and had a great time. LCD was perfect as always, Sturgill and Nathaniel Rateliff were great too. Really cool festival setup too, though I thought the food options were a bit boring/limited (I know we are spoiled for food at Lolla). Lineup depending I'll definitely go again next year, hopefully for the 3 days (sucks I missed PJ Harvey today but had to get home and have a big day at work tomorrow).
Also got to the hotel early and ran into Nathaniel Rateliff and a few of the Night Sweats at the bar waiting for my room to get ready, did some shots with them and talked for an hour, they were really nice guys.

Saw Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit with the Mountain Goats opening Wednesday night in STL. Mountain Goats were great as always (I bought this shirt), Isbell I'm not much of a fan of but he and his band were solid, and there were two songs I particular I really liked - 'Last of My Kind', and 'If We Were Vampires'. Gonna have to track those down.

Ozzy with Zakk Wylde in 2017 was far more fun and entertaining than it had any business being. Most if not all of the his songs were noticeably de-tuned but he still sounded really solid. The rest of the sets I saw at Open Air (Slayer, Lamb of God, Rob Zombie, Anthrax, Megadeth) were really solid too. My only real complaint about the fest is that it is in Bridgeview.

i thought Open Air was fantastic both days this year. legit the only issue was parking on Sunday -- we got in just in time snag a spot at Toyota before it filled up but i heard they started relegating people to the far fields immediately after. which is already shitty even before you include the fact that they still charge you.
otherwise, great weekend. it definitely filled up much more than anyone expected (who knows how many people actually paid tho) so i'm sure they made bank on merch, beer, and parking. i suspect it'll be back next year.
logistically nearly perfect. almost no issues with sound (one cutout during Amon and the side stage was spotty at times) or timeliness or really even congestion (the back and forth on the stairwell got a little hectic but nothing as bad as Rammstein last year)
beer was affordable and in bigger sizes this year and great selection. same for food.
Ozzy, Lamb of God, Dillinger, Crobot, Code Orange, Anthrax, and Zombie were definitely the highlights. Kiss was fun but kinda whatever because it's Kiss in 2017 with only half the band. did most of the hits at least. Dave Mustaine didnt really have a voice so Megadeth was okay. Meshuggah actually was just kinda okay. crowd wasn't as into it and it was the same set as last year. Slayer was great once they stopped playing new stuff but the crowd was ridic on the small stage and the sound was weird depending where you stood. Stone Sour was good when they did old stuff. no one cared about the new stuff so i was glad i wasn't just taking crazy pills there.
only heard good things about Saturday as well and it sounds like both Saturday and Sunday were quite full.
