Interesting re-Robin's voice, I thought it was flawless last week. Also thought the Crack-Up tracks made for a great opening as I think it's the strongest opening across their albums (and also their best album). Those three tracks in particular are just fantastic imho. The show definitely picks up with Grown Ocean but that's because it's a song people have been listening to since 2011. Crack-Up is a lot more difficult to break into for a lot of casual listeners and it's new. Those tracks couldn't fit anywhere else in the setlist either. Anyway, I thought it was a good opening. The one song off Crack-Up that I think is kinda meh (If You Need To, Keep Time on Me) really comes together in a live setting. As for my personal highlights... I Am All That I Need / Arroyo Seco / Thumbprint Scar -> Cassius, - -> - Naiads, Cassadies, Third of May / Ōdaigahara, Helplessness Blues, The Shrine / An Argument, Grown Ocean, Ragged Wood, Mearcstapa -> On Another Ocean (January / June) -> Fool's Errand, Montezu--

That ATCQ show last night was one of the most fun shows I've been to in a long time. Crowd was great, the group was on-point throughout and bringing a lot of energy. Q-Tip did officially announce that this would be their last show in Colorado, so that was kind of bittersweet.
Setlist for those interested in such things:
The Space Program Oh My God Common Ground (Get It Goin' on) Busta's Lament Let's Ride (Q‐Tip song) Dis Generation Mobius Excursions Find a Way Woo Hah!! Got You All in Check (Busta Rhymes cover) Whateva Will Be Luck of Lucien Butter The Good, The Bad, The Ugly Movin Backwards Sucka Nigga Ego Phony Rappers Black Spasmodic Steve Biko (Stir It Up) Buggin' Out Bonita Applebum Electric Relaxation Vivrant Thing (Q‐Tip song) Check the Rhime Encore: Can I Kick It? Award Tour We the People....

He's been saying that on each stop of this tour, so I guess it really is the end. It really struck me at FYF how hard that would be to hear your friend's voice again and again after they had passed.

He got emotional at one point. It was nice that they played Phife's vocals instead of trying to find someone to take his parts.
On a lighter note, they made an obligatory comment about weed at one point and asked the crowd to share, and about 50 or so joints were thrown onto the stage. They actually stopped mid set to collect everything that had been thrown.

Didn't realize that Priests show on Saturday night was their first ever in the state. They were incredible. Also enjoyed Lithics as an opener.

Waxahatchee were good. Ended up leaving about 2/3rds through due to boredom. Just not my thing I guess.
Highlight was the multitude of technical problems and since it was at Third Man it made me happy to think what Jack White would've thought if his venue was in that shape given what a stickler he is.

has anyone posted about what the recent dirty projectors shows have been like. just curious If you missed it, the P4k set was a complete trainwreck. Not exaggerating. It seemed as though they barely practiced before the set. And that was one of my most anticipated sets of the weekend.

There were a couple of moments that clicked, but I will agree with mookie and PH that on the whole it was very disappointing.

My username is a DP album, their pitchforl set was awful. Aside from Cool Your Heart and the first half of Ascend Through Clouds they did not sound good. Band wasn't together, Dave's singing was off key frequently, horn section seemed confused if they should play or not at times, Bass dude seemed bored fiddling around with a synth. Olga looked like she knew most of it was bad, at times she was cringing and trying to signal band memebers.
Would avoid basically.

it doesn't really matter at this point because they arent playing any more shows. they just played 2 shows this summer, it's not like the old tour tightened dirty projectors.

Right. I mostly got the feeling that Dave was in between actually wanting to play those songs at all and committing to the full attention to detail they usually have. Ended up somewhere in between and not good.

Speaking of the ol' TK, I added Kendrick Lamar to mine when he was the secret "very special guest" at Dave Chappelle's Radio City Music Hall appearance last night. I haven't listened to much of his music, so I wasn't familiar with any of the songs he performed, but he put on a hell of a show (probably about 45-60 minutes in length).
Side note re: Radio City - I don't know if it's just where we were sitting (main floor fifth row, off to the side), but the echo in the theater made it incredibly difficult at times to hear what the comedians and Kendrick were saying/rapping. Was thinking about seeing Sturgill there next month, but I'll probably pass.

Saw a Smiths cover b5ad tonight. First time seeing one and was kinda creeped out at first but they drew me in and were actually really good. Played for almost two hours too.

With the exception of Radiohead earlier this year, I think the Kendrick show tonight was probably the biggest show I've been to. Two wildly different shows.
I'm not a massive Kendrick fan. I slept on TPAB two years ago, and it wasn't until Damn that I gave him a shot. Butterfly material live is incredible stuff, especially Alright and King Kunta. I think what I like the most about Kendrick is how real he seems to me. And his fans adore him , even if the message he attempts to send them gets missed sometimes. But they hold onto his every word, every movement, every sigh. This man is a beast on stage. His presence demands attention and Sprint gave it all to him.
From the floor of Sprint back in April for Radiohead, I could see many people just kind of droning out. It's expected. Crowd was still very good though. This was different. Kendricks fans worship him. It's creepy and inspiring at the same time. He's not a terrible role model to have.
I've seen Sonic Youth, Deerhunter, and other shoegaze and noise rock bands live, where people have left bc of how loud it was. Kendrick didn't make the noise, it was the crowd tonight. That bleeding sound in your ears. I may be partially deaf. And diverse. I saw all different kinds of people at this show. You go to a Radiohead show you kinda figure you'll see mostly white people. But here, it was everyone. College kids, moms, sons, dads, daughters, couples, friends, family, it was a variety I've never seen for a single performer before.
I've been to a lot of shows in my life. And this one was different than all of them. No one at this show was aggravating me, despite my mood swings as of late. No overly drunk guys singing along poorly to any song. Sure, bros aplenty, but that's a given. This was a sight to behold for sure.
Most of you have seen him live, but if you haven't, it's awe inspiring. After this show though, I don't think I need to ever see another big arena show the rest of my life.
There were some disappointments like XXX being somewhat muffled, and a majority of the DAMN cuts he played I was indifferent to (like Loyalty, it's just okay to me). But watching the crowd when he rose up on the platform in the middle of them was awesome.
Highlights: DNA, King Kunta, GOD, Element, Alright, and Humble.

Genuine question, was this your first hip hop show? If you don't count festivals, yes. I had tickets to Kanye's Fantasy tour back in 2010 but something came up. KC doesn't get a lot of these shows, outside of Tech9ine.

Sounds good. I'm not much of a hip-hop fan but I will be seeing Kendrick Lamar at Voodoo Fest.

The lady and I have agreed to cut down on the shows next year due to the wedding/honeymoon so I'm going all out this year. I've made an effort this year to try out almost anything and when I put on Damn, the immediacy of DNA just blew me away so much that I had to dig deeper into his catalog. A lot of my friends/family were very surprised I'd be going to see him, but it was well worth it. He's masterful on stage.

If you had that much fun at a kendrick set you should go to more hip-hop shows. everything you described is pretty universal to them.

I really wanted to go to Kanye, and if he hits us up again I'll definitely do that. But like I said, KC doesn't get a lot. I wouldn't mind doing the Gorillaz show for Vince but it'll likely be a short set and tickets are 60ish. But yeah, I was a fan, and would definitely see more hip hop shows, especially now that I have other friends here who are interested.
