The drink prices there are definitely pretty egregious tho, more so than most venues.

That's what I was referencing when I mentioned Live Nation venue. Their MO is to gouge their customers for every last cent all over this beautiful country.
Edit: IRT alady.

See that's weird then because the restroom trailers are usually pretty plentiful for just the pavilion. They have them in a few different locations and I can't remember even seeing lines for them at other shows.
Anyway, sorry it sucked.

they only had the one trailer for guys (that i could find in the time i had) and the line was pretty miserable. maybe there was more but i couldn't figure it out.
w/e it was the only show i have on my schedule there this year and the 2 bands i wanted to see were good. no biggie.

yeah whole thing seemed poorly handled imo but again whatever. it certainly didn't ruin the show for me. just left a note in my head to avoid that place if possible (Sturgill was the only other one i was tempted to try for this year)

Saw Gary Clark Jr. and Black Pistol Fire at the Danforth in Toronto last night. The latter were solid and I think they thrive in non-headlining slots (30-45 mins instead of 75 is more digestible based on my times seeing them).
Gary played for two hours and while I felt kind of bored during the first half (some of his material is incredibly gentle, especially after a loud opener), by the end I was pretty satisfied. Think maybe I just need a break from seeing him play since it's been almost an annual occurrence. Also, guess I've mostly seen him at festivals where it's less spread-out in terms of time, and therefore somewhat tighter (and more focused on guitar wankery).
Having said that, originally had bought a pair for only tonight and did last night on a bit of a whim, so doing it all over again in six hours.

I was on stage with Nick Cave tonight. He pulled me up, screamed in my face during Stagger Lee, gave me a hug after Push the Sky Away. I told him it was the best concert of my life. It was. In fact it was the greatest night of my pathetic life. He's my fucking idol.

Anime that is ridiculous. I'm so jealous. Was hoping to drive up to Chicago for the show this weekend, but the prices on StubHub are a bit too much for me right now. Hopefully catch him next tour.

Very cool!
While I didn't go up on stage, night two of Gary Clark Jr. and Black Pistol Fire at the Danforth in Toronto felt better than night one. Played generally the same setlist with 1-2 changes and he just seemed more energetic last night (perhaps the Chicago show on Sunday tuckered him out). Also Black Pistol Fire joined him for "Numb" (and "Shake") during the encore which was fun.

So what happened was that he pulled a dude up at the end of Weeping Song and afterwards the guy was (for some reason) confused as to if he should get off. Nick said "do whatever you like" and then the guy asked him to play Stagger Lee, which of course was going to happen anyway but like me he probably realized he'd to Jack the Ripper before it and wanted to be on-stage for Stagger (so of course they skipped Jack the Ripper, not like I give a fuck given what happened). Nick then started pulling people up to not make it awkward (genuinely don't think this was planned or staged because I don't see this in other videos I looked up, and the band members looked a bit confused). He pulled me up, then another person, and then people just started coming up on their own. Ultimately I'd guess there were about 30 of us.
Nick went out into the crowd for parts of the song, but for other parts he was nestled within the group. At one point, as pictured, he went to the back and stood on the stool. Then he did the "yeah yeah yeah yeah" screams from Stagger Lee, and since I was right there he did it right in my face which I will never forget because it was fucking amazing and frightening.
Anyway, for Push the Sky Away everyone sat in a semi-circle around him, and at the end on his way trying to get out he gave like 5 people hugs and I was one of them. Total luck there, but yeah, it was wild. I'll never forget it. Never been on a stage like that, but most of all Nick Cave is my music idol and after last night I question if NC&tBS as a whole isn't my favorite band. The whole show was just out-of-this-world incredible, and the other time I saw him (solo on piano) doesn't even hold a candle. I honestly have no words.

I was in second row but ended up in the first row by the time it started. First row of seats basically became two standing rows in front of the stage, although people in the first two rows of seats really got the experience. He plays entirely to those first two rows, which is more than I expected. He grabbed my hand a few times during the show too... it's like a religious experience. Frightening at times, really moving at others (I was in tears a bit during the Skeleton Tree songs near the end of the main set). I knew he was incredible from videos and from the solo thing I saw, but I didn't imagine it would be this crazy to be up front like that.

I know neither but am v interested!
I've never seen a performer as good as him.
I also like that outside of being frightening he can also convey other emotions, and in the frightening bits he'll sometimes just crack a smile when interacting with people, it just makes it feel genuine. Warren is fucking frightening during From Her to Eternity too, that might've been the scariest part of the whole night. Okay, I'll stop now.

If you want to be front row at a Nick Cave show, you can be front row at a Nick Cave show. Don't be a dick about it, but the crowd always surges up to the stage right before/after the show starts. Note: if you are in like the 3rd row and want to be closer, keep your eyes open and be ready to move. Security usually has the memo so you shouldn't have to worry too much about them. In Milwaukee a few years back I was with hulksmash and we were a few rows back...ended up behind the first row of seats. Nick kept coming over to our side and pointing in our direction, reaching out and beckoning to me. I literally did that thing where I looked around thinking he must be looking at someone much cooler. Anyway I was kinda trapped behind the row of seats with people on either side but I reached out and he grabbed my hand. I was like hooooooly shit that was nuts. But he kept coming back throughout the set and finally just stopped in front of me during "Tupelo" and was singing "come on, come on, come on....come on, come on, come on..." The crowd kinda parted and everyone was like "go up there! go up there!" I was like ohhhh hell no but HE WOULDN'T LEAVE so finally I had to clamber over the row of seats in jeans that were frankly too tight for that and then everyone pushed me up to the front to this little platform he was standing on and I was like uhhh I'm not getting up there so he just held my hand and sang "West Country Girl" to me and that was plenty. Anyway I'm not in this shot but this is him creeping me out during Tupelo: http://instagr.am/p/pgvJMnEUON

He does kinda pick a few people or sections out of the crowd. The guy who was up on stage first for Stagger Lee was pulled up twice (forget what song the first one was). He also pulled a girl up, although also forgetting the song, pretty sure it was Magneto. I think it's super cool, it's like they're the chosen ones, and ofc it's awesome that you got to experience that (I don't feel I was at all a chosen one, just at the right place at the right time for both getting pulled up and the hug).

Yeah it was more scary than anything, like he says in the clip from 20,000 Days he intentionally goes after the people who look awed/terrified It was weird though after the show people were coming up to me like "oh my god he loves you!" which was very very awkward since I definitely was not seeking that attention. It's interesting because there's so many people grabbing at him too and he doesn't really react to them at all.
