That's gonna be a tough first "memorable call" for the new guy His call for the Robert injury a few days earlier was virtually identical. New guy has a signature injury call before anything else. Not a good sign. |

White Sox might get their first no-hitter of the season tonight. I say first because I think there is a very realistic chance it happens multiple times this year, this is a historically bad team.
And in case it's not clear, the White Sox are on the receiving end of this potential no-no. This really might be rock bottom for the franchise, just waiting out the clock on Jerry at this point.

Ok some of the umpiring stuff is just getting ridiculous. There's been Angel Hernandez calling strikes 50 miles off the plate and then the Aaron Boone ejection today is the most egregious awful ejection I've seen in pro sports since Tim Duncan got ejected for laughing

Omg I saw the video earlier and that ump is clearly an asshole, but it’s also really fucking funny that Boone literally did nothing other than a completely innocuous hand motion. He’s totally right to lose his shit, but damn if it isn’t the funniest thing I’ve seen all day.

i've been to 3 games so far this season and was blown away at how bad the uniforms looked in person. the mismatched greys on jerseys and pants stuck out big time for visiting teams. and the small lettering on the back of the jerseys made it extremely difficult to read anyone's names from even midway back on a 100 level.

I read an article recently, will try to find, but was shocked to see his accuracy numbers are just about middle of the pack. Still, I shouldn't know an umpire's name so he's obviously doing something wrong.

I don't think his rep has anything to do with his overall accuracy, it's how bad he gets the wrong calls wrong and how much of a prick he turns into when he's questioned about it.

the puff piece from the athletic last week referenced one of hernandez's performance reviews that noted he misses in bunches, which seems to track with his lowlights like that wyatt langford at-bat some weeks ago. his inability to de-escalate any situation is probably what mlb was more concerned about when they asked him to move along.
does cb bucknor take the reins of worst umpire now?

i went to the phillies/mets game in london on saturday.
obviously, converting a pitch to a diamond isn't ideal but i was shocked at how much foul room was given and how much weird wasted space there was behind lower level seating. plus, the seats didn't have cupholders. this stadium was built for the 2012 olympics and no cupholders? seriously? also, i ended up in a section with some truly obnoxious mets fans that made me realize just why fans get a bad rep.

yesterday i went to the mets/rangers game, which once again puts me at a full set having attended a game in every current MLB ballpark.
i am preemptively mad at the a's for the chaos they will bring to me accomplishing that feat over the next several years.
