I'll try to go to that, what the hell i keep thinking about what this entails in terms of buying camping gear and supplies for like 5 days in a state I can't reasonably drive to maybe I'll just do the dicks run and stay in my cousin's air conditioned house for free

ripping through the 32 minute david bowie > cities > david bowie on this before i surrender the rest of my day to meetings Listened to this at the gym after work today. So fantastic. The ambient spaces they tapped into from 97-00 are almost too good for words.

I'm doing some of the '98 stuff mentioned earlier in this thread today.
Kind of curious, where do people generally consider the band nowadays as compared to their heyday? Like are 2010s and 2020's Phish shows worth listening to or more of a thing that really only if you are there in person? Are they still on top of their game or you seeing a legacy act that's still good and fun but not what they once were? Or is a Phish show nowadays still one of the best jam band experiences you can get? That's probably a really complicated question but curious the general thoughts on it

They're currently considered to be on one. Last year's Divorce Tour was the hottest they've been in a while.

That's probably a really complicated question but curious the general thoughts on it They're still terrific and pretty easily the best live band on the planet. Trey constantly writes new songs so some old heads get bummed out that Sober Trey is ruining setlists with his songs about love and light. But any song is capable of becoming a monster jam now (i.e. the 38 minute "Ruby Waves" at Alpine a few years back), so judging the band by reading their setlists is a fool's errand. We're lucky that they're still playing and we might only have a decade left of one of the most important bands of all time, so just see as many shows as you can before it's too late.

Phish the band plays The Sphere the venue tonight, tomorrow, saturday, and sunday
Trey Anastasio (of phish) says there will be a theme to the shows
I have seen predictions of the planets, which is my favorite guess. New single "Evolve" mentions the planets.
Also seen people guess the elements, which could work.
The cover of the single also has people standing underneath / observing a cube, which makes me think the theme could be shapes? Idk, its exciting to think about on a boring thursday.
i am going straight for hampton comes alive; first show, second set

I don't love the arrangement on "Evolve" but I think that's the best song Trey has written in years. I'm also a sucker for his silly dumb songs that the 1.0 dorks hate

I too love Trey’s new age ballads - when well placed they can have huge emotional payoffs. Love me a good Lonely Trip or Life Beyond the Dream.

OK initial thoughts:
The Sphere effects look... fine? I'm not excited yet. The stripped back Kuroda rig is almost a little sad.
I would want to be in the pit at the Sphere, I think. Looks roomy. Crowd looks fun.
I would let any of these dudes do my taxes, even Trey.
