Donaldson to Cleveland!!! I'm thrilled!
Not sure how Tito'll configure the lineup. I guess Kip moves to the bench (finally) or they say f*** having good defense and throw him (Kip) in the outfield.

The Sox just did it with Kopech. Weren't you advocating he stay in the minors, too? Also I don't even think keeping him in AAA is all that egregious anyway. He's only had about 120 games above high-A, and he's only 21. Same age as college juniors who just got drafted. Also his BB% would be solidly below average for a major leaguer.Holy hell this is nitpicking. Moncada wasn't close to a finished product but he was head and shoulders above AAA peers and forced the call-up. I do not see how this is different. Eloy was arguably ready a month ago and there's definitely value in getting him reps against ML pitching - that's a nice jumpstart for 2019. It is what it is. Hopefully the White Sox actually sink that money back into the team that they'll be saving by getting that 6th full season of control.

And as for the nitpicking, he's walking 6% of the time in AAA. It's basically impossible to be elite with a number that low. That would rank 50th out of 60 qualified outfielders this year. There are only two outfielders with a BB% below 8% that have more than 3 WAR this year: Eddie Rosario and David Peralta. Jorge Soler basically had the exact same physique and skillset as Jimenez and was as highly regarded, and he's been an enormous bust. It's not like Eloy is an automatic superstar, and it's not like he's automatically going to start walking more at the big league level.

Where's the best place to sit in Royals stadium by the way? Thinking of taking in a game when I'm there next

Where's the best place to sit in Royals stadium by the way? Thinking of taking in a game when I'm there next I prefer the 300 seats behind home plate. Cheap seats and a great view of the entire field. Third base side is mostly shaded. And the seats are more like White Sox than the skinny Cub seats. The big problem is that there are no restaurants/bars where you can walk to the game. Parking is the cheapest in any stadium I've ever been to. $12. Lots of food and beer choices inside the stadium, but they are stadium prices.

It's not like Eloy is an automatic superstar, and it's not like he's automatically going to start walking more at the big league level. He'd be ranked in the top 15 with his 12% strikeout rate. Obsessing over walks when he has been amazing at putting the ball in play seems silly to me, especially since the low BB % isn't paired with a high strikeout rate. Jorge Soler always struck out a ton.

The White Sox now have two outfielders dealing with injuries (Avi, LaMarre), so this should be fun to see who they call up!

Anyway, Frare and Hamilton have had great debuts and the White Sox are about to take a season series from the Red Sox.

A really weird play that ended up tying the game I was at in the bottom of the tenth last night:
They ended up walking off on a sac fly to secure a playoff spot, in their last game of the regular season.

They're recommending TJS for Otani now after the one start. What were the odds?

ohtani hit another bomb tonight, btw.
i love watching ohtani homeruns but i hate hearing the terrible awkward "big fly ohtani san" call. almost ruins it every time.

WHY DOES IT RAIN EVERY KOPECH START? Rain was trying to keep him from facing the lineup of death playing for (checks notes) the Detroit tigers? (Was there, watched 2 60 year old men fight in the rain, wasn’t great)
