As a Sox fan, I'm sad we're going to lose (at least) a full year of service time because of this. As a person, I'm glad he got called up in time to get MLB service time, pay, and benefits while he rehabs.

Cubs haven't had an off day since August 20, their next off day isn't until September 20, and Jesus this is gonna get sloppy at the end

I'll definitely tune in for that 9/29 game. There was a really terrific article in The Athletic about his motivations to come back and how challenging everything has been.

If everything is true I hope he never wears a Cubs jersey again. I thought the MLB conducted an investigation into this already, no? I know this is a new story, but some of the allegations of abuse are prior to 2017 and should have been uncovered.

Hopefully now she will?

Last year, his wife called him out for cheating on instagram
And on that post her friend said this
There was an investigation, but his wife did not cooperate at the time.
Based on what she wrote, I'm would not be surprised if she wanted to be safely separated and have custody in print before going forth with it. Even this far removed, this is going to make her life a living hell. I can absolutely see why she wouldn't have wanted to while still married and terrified.

I'm really glad she feels comfortable coming forward with all of that now. It was always really unsettling how the Cubs/MLB let it go.

We should know by now that the system is very shitty and women who do step forward and cooperate are subject to vitriol and threats, particularly when it's a high profile case like this.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Cubs non-tendered Russell this off-season.

Yeah they can just keep Baez at short and maybe hang on to Murphy, who actually is pretty...

They can just trade Russell to the Astros, since if it didn't happen while he was on the 'stros it didn't happen

Cubs were already willing to ignore Chapman's shitty behavior, so I have no doubt they'll do the same for Russell (again).

Not saying you are wrong, but it would be really shitty if that's the case. They talk so much about ethics/morals and "The Cubs Way" and how character is a big part of their recruiting process. He needs to go.

Oh hey the Yankees, too. Remember how the Reds tried to get rid of Chapman super quickly after he unloaded a gun near his wife and now the dude has a World Series ring? Cubs and Yankees have both made out marvelously. Pro sports and their treatment of these shit bags is just terrible.

The Cubs have justified it as a rental they could brush away, and likely the same with Murphy. It’s shameful and absolutely the worst, especially given the “ethics” claims. It will be interesting to see how they treat it with one of their cornerstones.

He's not playing today and isn't even at the park. Maybe it is just me being hopeful but I'd be surprised if he plays again this year.
