Hey, at least he knocked him to the ground in the end. Got some noogies, though.

I was about to go to a Bears preseason game when it happened. I think? Anyway my mom was horrified. Robin was her favorite.

My oldest baseball memory (that I saw on TV as it happened; I remember seeing Aaron's 715th home run on that day's news).

Nolan Ryan was one of my favorite players as a kid. My gf's favorite player is Robin Ventura. We don't talk about this moment

Robin was/is my favorite baseball player of all time. I happened to be watching that game live when it happened. When he started charging the mound I had a WWF type thrill, and then when Ryan put him in that headlock Pale Hose was a very sad little boy. I was super pissed at Frank for not coming to his defense, and at that moment realized the Big Hurt nickname was very misleading.

I have Ventura and Nolan Ryan autographed baseballs sitting side by side in my basement. They're buddies now.

Food safety rankings for all MLB parks. I think I will stick to the overpriced beer from now on. I like how Coors Field is ranked 4th best despite "dozens" of rodent droppings in the main kitchen. ugh. link

It'll be nice to have something to look forward to in the rotation besides Rodon. There are 10 starting pitchers in the AL with a negative WAR and the Sox have 3 of them.

Just checked the Sox game I'm scheduled to attend later this month and Shields is supposed to pitch. Hoping for a rainout over the next couple of weeks.

Fun fact:
Among players with at least 60 plate appearances, Moncada leads the league in BB%.

He's come back from several 0-2 counts to draw a walk. Pretty impressed with him so far despite the low BA.

Tim Anderson is undergoing grief counseling apparently, which is really good for him because judging by his Social Media he's having a real tough time with his friend passing away earlier this year.

Aw, good for him. I hope it helps. He seems to be enjoying himself on the field a little more lately.

I just had a look at Blake Rutherford's stats since the deal and I don't think the change of scenery helped.

I think he'll need more than 70 at-bats to be judged as a success or failure. Not sure what the White Sox coaching staff has been doing with him, so that may be impacting his immediate production.
Glad you're so invested in the White Sox minor league system, though.
