looks like the yankees are fully back on track, winning 6 of their last 7 games. bullpen is absurd. and it looks like they may get sonny gray without giving up any of their top tier of prospects, which would be astonishing.

Rays have been making some under the radar moves, too. Wild Card spots will come down to the wire.

Yeah, that Jennings move with the Sox was a good one for both sides.
On the Sox front, I guess Petricka coming back makes him the only person in the bullpen who was on the opening day roster. That's nuts.

I can't believe the NYY would get Gray for Florial/Mateo+ but if they do wattba.
Just as noteworthy for the Yankees is Price back on the DL with elbow issues. In a coin flip race that would be a huge problem for Boston.

I get that Brad Pitt played him in a movie, but when are people going to come around to the fact that Billy Beane is not that good of a GM.

In a coin flip race that would be a huge problem for Boston. florial is a pretty highly rated prospect. mateo obviously was and has seemingly resuscitated his value this year. i agree it doesn't seem like enough, but obviously i think it would be great. we can't deal gleybar, frazier, adams or sheffield. i'm pretty much ok dealing anyone else.

I'm with you. Adams should be off limits too, but if they had to move Sheffield I could probably live with it. Ideally it would be guys that are rule v eligible this offseason as secondary pieces.
If they can get anything of value out of Mateo that would be a major W.

mateo will be a top 100 prospect again when keith law's next list comes out. that said, there is simply no place for him on the yankees.
long-term outfield: judge, frazier, fowler or hicks, with the other as the fourth outfielder. long-term infield: bird (?), castro, dede, gleybar.

I think that Mateo's short-term AA #s are a mirage. I'm not a believer but would be happy to be proved wrong. They have so many guy to protect on the 40 man this offseason that they need to get something for him now.
I'm becoming a believer in Andujar though. Other than first base I don't know where they put him - so he might be a deadline casualty.

Cubs get Justin Wilson and Alex Avila for Jeimer Candelario and Isaac Paredes. They now have zero prospects.

Very happy that KC got Melky Cabrera.

Sonny Gray to the Yankees for Kaprelian, Mateo, and Fowler.
That is such a risky return for the A's.

I like Melky, but I wasn't expecting anyone to give up anything decent for him. My guess was the Sox would have put him on waivers and received a player to be named later.
Unless the Royals plan on using him at DH, it's not going to be too much of an upgrade (even with Gordon struggling).

I mean, he's an outfielder who doesn't have speed, doesn't hit for power and can't field that well. He'll get you hits in bunches and he doesn't strike out much, so that's good.

Not that it's at all surprising, but the White Sox lineup these days is abysmal. It's probably worth taking a shot in the dark and seeing if Delmonico and Peter click in these final couple months.

Garcia almost had a second collision earlier. Me thinks he's not calling off the infielders.

Was listening on the radio and it sounded brutal. The resulting injuries are essentially the best-case scenario.
Also, the end of that game was fun as hell.

Seriously.
I get it, but it still bothers me a little folks seemed more worried about Moncada.
