Here's hoping he's okay. Also kind of concerning it took Abreu talking to him to convince him not to take a chance pitching while sore after Renteria had already visited the mound.

Yeah, that was weird. I hope he's ok.

Kopech to AAA and Giolito to the majors on Monday.

It would be a lot of fun to see Kopech in the majors this year to see the statcast data, but there is really no upside to adding him to the 40 man roster.

I assume he gets the Moncada treatment next year and isn't called up until after the Super 2 deadline. I look forward to 102mph heaters for the next several years.

Aaron Judge has now struck out in 36 consecutive games. Kind of crazy that Adam Dunn didn't previously hold that record.

Altuve has officially passed him in WAR (6.1 to 6.0), and Mike Trout is closing in (5.7) even though he has 150 fewer plate appearances than either of them.
Should be a very interesting MVP race, and that's not even factoring in Chris Sale who should probably get it regardless (7.4 WAR!!!)

Did a little research and Chris Sale's 2017 season already ranks 7th in single-season pitching WAR since 2005:
t-1.) 2009 Greinke (8.6) t-1.) 2015 Kershaw (8.6) 3.) 2011 Halladay (8.3) t-4.) 2009 Verlander (7.7) t-4.) 2009 Lincecum (7.7) 6.) 2014 Kershaw (7.6) t-7.) 2017 Sale (7.4) t-7.) 2014 Kluber (7.4)

Giolito looks really good, but he has the exact same problem as Rodon had. When he can't locate his elite breaking ball for a strike, he doesn't have a good enough third pitch so guys just tee off on his fastball regardless of the good velocity.

Rich Hill is perfect through 7

Rich Hill is perfect through 7 turned it on but saw an error in the bottom of the 9th ruined the perfect game. ouch.... still a no hitter after 9, but the score is tied are 0. anyone know if it counts as a no hitter if you make it through 9 with no hits but have to go to extra innings? do you technically have to finish the game into extras for it to be a no hitter or what? sidenote: looking at the box score, the dodgers somehow got 8 hits in this game and no runs (so far).

It doesn't count. He has to finish the game for it to be a NH.

Kinda related, but I know there was a game back in the day where both pitchers had no-hitters or perfect games or something through 9. I don't remember what the final outcome was, but somebody here might (scoots? venom?).

I don't remember what the final outcome was, but somebody here might (scoots? venom?). I had to look it up: Both Hippo Vaughn of the Cubs and Fred Toney of the Reds continued pitching into the tenth inning. Vaughn lost his no-hitter in the top of the tenth, as the Reds got two hits and scored the winning run.

The Cubs and Reds have played 6 games this month and they have a combined run total of 93. I guess things have changed a little bit in 100 years

Well they needed to win that game because the NL West is up for grabs. And Rich Hill is a young guy who never gets hurt. So prolly a good idea to let him come out for the 10th. Who knows if the Dodgers will even make the playoffs - no hitter flags fly forever!!!
Yeah I know he was under 100 pitches. And I do think it was cool that he tried. As long as the media gets good copy.

I don't remember what the final outcome was, but somebody here might (scoots? venom?). even better than that cubs/reds double no-hitter through 9 is that there have been a few minor league games that ended without hits for either team. the most recent one was in the early 90s between the phillies and red sox in single-a. a run scored via two walks and two sac bunts.

Moncada was just put on the DL. I was psyched to see him in action this weekend.

Sox took the lead in the 9th only to lose on a walk-off HBP? Good grief.

Upton to the Angles, Verlander to the Astros, Tigers in full rebuild.
