That's a good list, but Pan's Labyrinth should be #1.

rented suzi q on google play. kind of interesting movie.
if she had toured the USA frequently after say, 1978, she would probably be in the trapper keeper, but she sold 50 million albums in the UK, and Europe, and Australia, so I can see why she hasn't played Chicago anytime recently.

so Thursday we finally gave the Child's Play remake a spin. again i had never seen any of the originals until just a week or two ago so i'm not precious about the franchise at all, but holy shit. what a disaster of a screenplay lol i dont think i've ever seen so many awful decisions (referring to both the writers and the characters they created) crammed into 90 minutes. boggles my mind that critics were so forgiving with it. we both fucking hated it (eric more so because he's so invested in the franchise) Friday we set up our backyard with the projector and screen and surround system and had 2 friends over for a social distancing movie night. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) it turned out wonderfully! we watched The Last Black Man in San Francisco finally and goddamn did i tear up at the end. fantastic movie and i think it's finally free on Prime if anyone else missed it last year Saturday i just put on all 4 Jaws movies to troll eric cause it was the 4th of july and how could i not? last night i showed eric Villeneuve's Enemy and we both adored it. i had seen it before but it had been so long that it took me a while to re-piece together what's actually happening. it's so fucking good and an underrated one in Villenueve's catalog. then we watched Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga and honestly, it's really fun! it's not hysterical but it's heartwarming and all the tunes are straight up bops and both McAdams and Dan Stevens are killer in it so it was a good time (way too long tho.)

forgot to mention I watched Lawrence of Arabia with ads and the very first one, immediately after the opening sequence, was for motorcycle insurance

I watched The Comfort of Strangers last night and found it pretty dull. Venice looks beautiful and Natasha Richardson was great but everything else about it was just slow and uninteresting. Was waiting for Walken to come in and crush it but he actually drags it down.

So many people recommended that Eurovision movie to me (both bc I love Iceland and bc my old boss famously used to make our whole department watch Eurovision) and it was not funny and did not really showcase Iceland 😕 I did like that it took place in Húsavík but only one person in the whole show actually sounded like they were from Iceland which was a bummer.

A friend from Akureyri (next town over from Húsavík) visited all the scenes from the movie; it's in his stories today and also in his highlights (you can also hear a real Icelandic accent) instagram.com/iceland_tourguide

Do you like Luis Buñuel or Wong Kar-Wai? Come join me in this thread where we can talk about our experiences with them this month. There will be more of these over the coming months if there's interest and I would be extremely open to suggestions from people.

Watched Straw Dogs last night which had the most insane final 20 minutes of a movie.
Apparently the remake has James Woods in it

![](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BNzU0NzIwMTc5M15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwOTI0MzI3NDM@._V1_.jpg) i'm not convinced that Ingmar Bergman isn't secretly still alive and living out his days in Estonia, masquerading as a new director obsessed with eastern orthodox folklore. goddamn the visuals in the film. astounding.
