GOTG was definitely scraping the barrel. I remember reading the series as a kid - granted it was the older team that you see briefly in the post-credits scene of GoTG2, but it was just okay. I'm not too familiar with the Carol Danvers Captain Marvel, but Mar-Vell (I think Jude Law is playing him) was Superman-esque, but with different powers.

I'm fine with Marvel scraping the barrel as long as they make a fun movie. This looks boring. I think it's honestly better to get a more obscure character than the 10th retelling of Spiderman's origin story, anyway.

The space scene looked really cool but she just doesn't seem like a bad ass at all in these trailers which she should be if she's the "last hope" for the Avengers.
Will most likely see it anyways since I like every marvel movies now a days

GotG seemed more barrel scraping than Ms./Captain Marvel. Isn't she supposed to be Superman equivalent in power? He/She is also equivalent to Superman in boring character development in the comics!

I also don't watch trailers anymore so I'm arguing from nothing.
Yeah, it's impressive that they've kept the train this full of steam, but after A4, I think it could fall apart with some speed.

oh ya i am very much in love with brie larson the character just seems incredibly boring?? which might be nice in a post-IW avengers situation (assuming it is like thor, guardians, spiderman, antman) as a straight man but for a standalone.... Yeah they must really be draining the well if they're making a Captain Marvel movie im not even a huge comic nerd but i do know that Capt Marvel is a huge portion of pretty much any Avengers story (but very specifically the Infinity Wars/Gauntlet story) so pretending that she didnt need her own movie in this 'saga' or whatever is silly **. same for GotG. not big names in the mainstream vernacular but pretty integral to anything regarding Thanos and the stones **in a world where everyone was hyped for 2 fucking antman movies

Mar-Vell died in the 80s, and the mantle wasn't resurrected till the 2000s. Infinity War from the mid-90s doesn't have her either.

It's probably referring to the first Thanos stories from the 70s which did include Mar-Vell (the male version) and Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers), but those centered around the cosmic cube only, not the infinity stones/gems. It's evident that the writers are pulling from all of the Thanos stories and kind of melding them all together for this. Hopefully they'll pull this from the 70s too

I feel like Team Feige has done justice to enough boring and/or obscure Marvel characters that you should be fairly excited for the Captain Marvel movie, especially if you liked Ant-Man and/or Black Panther.

Personally I think the films for the more obscure characters like Guardians and Ant-Man have been the most fun. They're maybe not the overall best of the set, and I haven't seen Ant-Man and the Wasp yet, but they've been on the whole a lot more enjoyable than some of the major character movies that took themselves so seriously.

Ant-Man and Wasp was fun, I liked it better than Ant-Man. First Guardians was great, second one was just okay. I think with a competent writer/director and solid casting, they can make any of these characters work. Larson's a solid casting, so I'm still gonna see it. Character wise I just don't find Marvel that interesting.

Yup. I'm assuming by Stark drifting in space that the time jump prediction is false, but can't tell 100%. Also, looks like the quantum realm is gonna play part.

Tony Stark seems remarkably lucid for someone who hasn't had water for 4 days.
