I've finally worked up enough excitement for the World Cup that I've been mostly able to ignore the very seedy elements and just be enthusiastic about the games. Combine that with today being my first day off in over a week and I'm super pumped to watch some fucking soccer today... and of course there's only one game... and it's between two of the worst teams in the tournament... representing two of the more evil countries. Cool. The World Cup!

Top 5 most lilely to win so you can pick one, forget about Iceland, maybe they won't even advance to the next round as much as I'd love to see them do that.

Germany
Spain
France
Argentina/Belgium
Spain maybe will lose a little bit of momentum because of Lopetegui absence, let's see how Fernando H. fares, if that's the case, then France will have a better chance than Spain

Peru has a very slim chance, they just recovered his star Paolo Guerrero after being sanctioned for doping, he along with La Foquita Farfan and Paolo Hurtado are maybe the main stars of the team, still it would be a mircale if they manage to advance to the next round, in a group that has La France and Denmark as faves |

I guess the US is not even guaranteed a spot in the 2026 WC because it's being split between 3 countries. I'd imagine they'll still get an automatic bid along with Canada and Mexico since they're expanding to 48 teams.

I missed the first two goals, but the rest of this has been phenomenal. I missed not being able to hate-watch Diego Costa in the EPL last year.
