NY people - a friend of mine who lives in NYC recommended Lombardi's for pizza. Is this a good spot or too touristy with ridiculous wait times? What are some other good spots for pie? We're staying about 15 blocks north of Times Square. Not familiar with Lombardi’s but Prince St. Pizza is right in that area and I know rango420 endorses it. It’s a little weird to come to NYC and have Chicago deep dish, but Emmett’s does it right if you’re into that. If you come out to Brooklyn, F&F Pizzeria is the best thin crust pizza I’ve had in NYC - the crust in particular is outstanding. Also in Brooklyn, Emmy Squared, which is the best Detroit-style pizza I’ve had in NYC.

We're staying about 15 blocks north of Times Square. I've never been to Lombardi's, but have been meaning to try it since, IIRC, it's the oldest pizza shop in the US. Usually a crowd when I walk by it though. Most of my go-to recommendations are fairly far from midtown (L&B Spumoni Gardens in Gravesend, Brooklyn and Sal & Carmines on 103rd St), but I think neader might be able to help here lmao If you’re willing to trek out to Gravesend for pizza, have you been to Roll n Roaster in Sheepshead Bay? Highly recommended if you haven’t had the pleasure.

I didn't go to Lombardi's but I did go to Joe's and John's on Blecker, both of which made my top 3 spots of the 10 pizza joints I went to, I think are within your distance.

Another vote for Joe's here. I don't remember all the pizza I had in my NYC journeys but I remember that being the best one

If anyone is looking for MSG Cure tickets, they released a bunch of side stage seats in the 100 and 200 levels for all three shows. The Wednesday show also has some nice seats on the front rows of sections 222 and 223 (for the moment).

Also, they apparently took too long with our pizza - or they felt like they did, so they comped our drinks! We went to Upside Pizza in Manhattan for slices, those were also excellent. NYC trip was a fun time for the most part. We saw Shucked and The Book of Mormon, I thought the latter was funnier than the former, though both brought the laughs. They weren't doing 30 Rock studio tours because of the writers strike, so that was a bummer. We both were not fans of Milk Bar's cereal milk soft serve.

Milk Bar anything is extremely overrated imo.

Milk Bar anything is extremely overrated imo. We had slices of birthday cake another time. We found it very sweet and decadent, but one slice is enough for 2 people.

Locked in a trip August 1st-3rd. Phish at MSG Tuesday and Wednesday, and then seeing Kimberly Akimbo on Thursday night.
Thursday morning and afternoon are wide open so looking for recs. Only been to MoMA once and we've never been to the Met, so leaning those are leading contenders.

Right by MSG. Splurged for a hotel like a total mark. Fukkit, YOLO, etc. If you’re looking for some food/drink recos in Midtown, an acquaintance with an affinity for Korean food loves Han Bat (53 W. 35th). I’ve been there once many years ago and I liked it. Good for lunch. Haven’t been for a while, but Bengal Tiger (58 W. 56th St) is a small Indian place with excellent food and good prices. Solid for lunch or dinner. Closer to MSG is Haymaker Bar and Kitchen (252 W. 29th St.). I’ve had it on my list but haven’t been. A couple times we tried to go and it was too crowded. Also read good things about La Noxe (162 W. 28th St). The bar entrance is in the stairwell of the 1 train (SE corner of 7th Ave and 28th Street) Mrs. Doso always recommends the Lower East Side Tenement Museum for visitors, but you can’t go wrong with MoMA or The Met.

monasterymonochrome Garcia People’s opening for Pacement at their Wednesday, Sept. 13 Brooklyn Steel show. Ya know, fuck it, if the secondary market isn't too insane I'll try for this show. Will prolly be the biggest stage I ever see the Peeps at.

Had another great trip to NYC last week. Saw Phish at MSG on Tuesday and Wednesday. It was my gf's 50th show and she finally got her favorite song (Guyute), which she's been chasing for a decade.
Thursday was packed. First we went to the Met for a few hours, which was fantastic. The Van Gogh Cypresses exhibit is awesome for anyone who is able to go. That night we saw Kimberly Akimbo on Broadway, which I absolutely loved. Afterwards we went down to the Comedy Cellar for the 11:30 show. Everyone was mostly great, and it was especially cool to see Ari Shaffir work on new material. I've never actually seen a comic do that live.

I made it to the Sunday, Wednesday, and Saturday (8/5) shows and it was such a wonderful week. Wednesday night was probs my favorite! Loved the Meatstick > It’s Ice transition and especially the Cavern > Carini > Piper S2 run. Also, with my 8, 9, and 10th shows, Phish is now the band I’ve seen most!

I was surprised they had Van Gogh's water lilies paintings there. On a similar note, was surprised MOMA had Dali's Persistence of Memory and how small it was.

Kinda open to whatever. Currently locked in at Beauty & Essex with some friends Saturday night. When I went last for LCD's "last" show I basically stuck around Times Square for 24hrs and didn't try anything. i'm big into beer. have a lot marked down, but if you have any faves, let'em rip

Man I biffed it hard and waited too long to buy flights, so now we have to fly into Newark.
Anyone have any recommendations for the easiest/cheapest way to get into the city from there? I see that there's a shuttle but it's $20 a person. At that price might as well take an Uber.

There may be a bus option that is cheaper tho, if ur willing to do that.

They have buses that go to the Port Authority which is allegedly less shitty than it used to be.
When we flew out of Newark in the spring, we took NJ Transit from Manhattan to the AirTrain. Which is a pain but I’m guessing it’s a lot less expensive than an Uber. But probably not worth the hassle if your flight is arriving at Terminal A (which is not being served by AirTrain last I checked).
