Their new new album, Murder of the Universe, is what you're looking for. Unfortunately I have yet to find my way back into the [ ], so I may have to wait for the actual release date. I did, however, listen to Spoon, Brian Eno, and Los Campesinos!. 2/3. PM me your email address and I'll send you the invite.

AOTW - (Sandy) Alex G: Rocket Albums just so all over the place with different influences, textures, whatever you want to call it. It starts out like a Microphones album to me, then goes into some chaotic punk with Brick, which sounds ripped right from EVOL. It's an engaging listen if you're interested in something that has a little bit of everything. Typically I'd find this kind of mixed bag a little annoying, but it works well here. Also out today that I'm gonna try to get to. Mountain Goats - Goths Land of Talk - Life After Youth Wavves - You're welcome Jlin - Black Origami Adult Mom - Soft Sports Daddy Issues - Deep Dream Aldous Harding - Party !!! - Shake the Shudder Nick Hakim - Green Twins WATERS - Something More! Sam Craighead - Tuesday Night Music Club tricot - 3 Tigers Jaw - spin More stuff here: www.stereogum.com/1941241/album-of-the-week-the-mountain-goats-goths/franchises/album-of-the-week/

So far today....
Alex G - I listened to this 3 times. I love it.
Mountain Goats - its okay. Not my favorite thing. Couldn't finish it, I can't stand the vocals/lyrics from this band, but based on what I've heard from them before, if you liked the last one you'll like this one.
Land of talk - It's good. Nothing spectacular.
Wavves - meh. It's a Wavves album.

This tMG is definitely not what I'd go to to sell new folks on them.

I also posted this on the other board but people should check out the new Tricot album, it's their most consistently great yet and one of my favorites of the year.

Also, Murder of the Universe is WILD. I love it so much. KG&tLW are 2/2 so far on their 2017 albums.

Tricot's on my list today. Agreed on King Gizzard, tho I didn't think Microtonal was nearly as good as Murder of the Universe.

Yeah, I'd say MotU is better than FMB but I really liked that one a ton too. Honestly, no lie, these might be my two favorite albums of the year so far. I don't know how they do this so consistently.
All the melody callbacks to past albums on MotU is a mindfuck.
They've become one of my favorite bands ever since I first started listening to them in December. They also were fucking crazy good when I saw them live. I haven't been this excited about a new band discovery in quite a while.

it's their most consistently great yet All their other albums have been consistent. This one is a complete mixed bag imo. Not in a bad way, but you have songs they made for films, earlier one off singles from over a year ago, and then the actual new album tracks. I think THE, AND, and the EP from last year are all better. Though this could change with more listens.
