By somewhat popular demand.
Here's a trailer for Steppenwolf's production of Pass Over that Spike Lee shot and turned into a film. Getting to see this in person was really really good:
Additionally, my girlfriend is currently working on a very dope adaptation of 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea and Lookingglass, which I'd recommend to anyone with even a passing interest in the novel.
Share theatre things and question Tweet about his college degree choice (I was a theatre major) here

What are everyone’s “heavy rotation” cast recordings of musicals they listen to? I find myself returning to the 10th Anniversary concert of Les Mis pretty frequently, as well as the original concept album for Jesus Christ Superstar

Empty set for me. My mom used to listen to stuff like that all the time, though. LOTS of Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Once on this Island is one of my favorite lesser-known musicals.

I find myself returning to the 10th Anniversary concert of Les Mis pretty frequently, as well as the original concept album for Jesus Christ Superstar Every now and again I'll listen to Book of Mormon because I adore Andrew Rannells, but if I had to pick one it'd be the 1987 Into the Woods cast recording. I also really like this.

I am so tempted to fly to NYC literally just to see Angels in America with Andrew Garfield as Prior and Nathan Lane as Roy Cohn. Last performance is July 12th.

I'm going to Des Moines next weekend to see Hamilton and again and am very excited. I know it's like the big popular show or whatever but I can't express enough how much the hype is worth it. We've been playing the soundtrack around here for the past few weeks

Still haven't seen it but my girlfriend and her sister were offered a ludicrous amount of money for their seats for the original with Lin in NYC.
We're seeing Waitress on Tuesday which I'm low key excited about

I might have told you this last night when we were chatting about it but my friend saw it in NY and said it was absolutely spectacular.

I wish I was more knowledgeable about theater - pretty sure the last show I saw was Wicked. Anyway, my wife and I are seeing Edward III at this place next month: Pretty psyched.

Timely bump as we just got our Straight White Men tickets tonight 😍 going out over Labor Day and praying for no understudies 🤞🤞🤞 Can anyone who is more familiar with Broadway shows weigh in on this? Do the big stars usually take off on the holidays? It's a short run and per Insta ya boy Armie already skipped Father's Day to be in rehearsals (no you're a stalker)

Anyone ever been to the Chicago Shakespeare Theater (the newer remodel)? I've been interested for a while but I generally try to avoid anything Navy Pier.

I've been a subscriber for 15+ years. Saw Macbeth in the newly constructed space there in May. I was not a big fan of the new space, but maybe it was just a shitting staging of the play.
I guess if you're looking for advice, I'd wait for a play that gets positive reviews...don't go just to see the new space.

I don't know what the rest of their season is like but there's not a bad seat in the house. I would agree with c1916 in that I'd wait for a show that you'd actually want to check out just cause it's Navy Pier and a pain in the ass to get out of. Also I thought their Hamlet production was dope *Kanye shrug*

We saw Dear Evan Hansen yesterday. I knew nothing about it going in and was surprised how heavy some of the subject matter was. I'm not sure how I feel about it overall because initially he started off as a sympathetic character but I don't think he ever really faced any consequences for his actions. The relationship with Zoe felt especially creepy.

I couldn't really get into that one despite loving Ben Platt.

Nothing about the soundtrack stuck out to me but all my deeply invested theater friends are losing their shit over it.
