Can confirm the sound quality is top notch and it's a great show. If anyone wants a link to the files I'd be happy to help out.
Also it looks like the shakedown stream this week is 7/21/90 at Tinley Park!

Hey gang - I've been gradually making my way through the Dick's Picks this year, along with Steven Hyden and Rob Mitchum's podcast, 36 From The Vault. They're 1/3 of the way through now, so I decided to draw up a little rankings of what I've heard so far (excluding anything from 13-36 that I've heard before - this is just Volumes 1-12). What're ur faves?
1. Volume 8 (Harpur College 1970 - acoustic set + the GOAT run from Dancing > Morning Dew > Viola Lee) 2. Volume 3 (Pembroke Pines 1977 - Sugaree alone puts this in the top 5, but the rest is top notch May 77) 3. Volume 12 (6/26-28/74 - GOAT China > Rider; amazing jams throughout, especially after WRS) 4. Volume 11 (9/27/72 - Bill is a force a nature throughout this set) 5. Volume 4 (Fillmore 1970 - wild Dark Star and The Other One, I love the early electric songs too, but it loses me a little near the end) 6. Volume 2 (10/31/71 - very abbreviated volume but it's basically perfect - the NFA w/ Going Down the Road is amazing) 7. Volume 10 (12/29/77 - basically a 1978 show, which is my fave Dead year, at the moment) 8. Volume 7 (London 1974 - great show but wish they had included the wild Seastones > Eyes from the 9/11/74 show) 9. Volume 1 (12/19/73 - Here Comes Sunshine!) 10. Volume 9 (MSG 90 - love Bruce on here) 11. Volume 5 (12/26/79 - a nice show but nothing special) 12. Volume 6 (10/14/83 - I like the Brent era, but this wasn't an amazing choice - nice Althea tho)

I’ve said it a million times but 3 was my first show and it was a great one to start on. I’ll have to do another DP sequential listen, it’s been a long time.
18 is great and was recorded at the same spot I got Covid tested at

Tonight's shakedown stream is one of my all time favorite shows and it also features a bunch of naked dudes. Best Sugar Magnolia recording maybe!

Sweet. Don't know why but watching all the footage/animation from the parts that I did really got me in my heart for some reason. This could also have been the bacon on the pizza I had for lunch, who could say

I owned american beauty on vinyl for yrs, but since then, I've come to think of it as the dead's worst album. I don't like brokedown palace or attics at all.

It's 12:45am on a Wednesday night but I feel like shootin shots:
Is there a (relatively easily accessible show) this *glances at notecard* squad would wanna spin as a group listen? Surely we can coordinate this shit

Started today with this volume from November 1969. First set has a ton of proto-versions of Workingman's tracks and is solid, but the second set is crazy great. It's basically an uninterrupted 90-minute run from Dark Star through And We Bid You Goodnight, covering every peak and valley the Dead explored in their early years. Dark Star > TOO > DS > Uncle John's theme > DS was just fucking ridiculous - as was Phil throughout Caution. Would wholeheartedly recommend!

Months late on this but the Brucy Hornsby interview on Time Crisis has some great Jerry stories.

Months late on this but the Brucy Hornsby interview on Time Crisis has some great Jerry stories. Keep meaning to come back to that one, glad to hear it's good. I'm still a fairly occasional listener

I think the page Bosma posted starts in the 40s and theres a soundcloud that archived all the eps before that without the music: soundcloud.com/vampire-ezraI started listening when FOTB came out so I started from the beginning when covid started and theres a good many laughs and a surprising amount of continuity. Some good eps to get a feel are 47 and 84

Listened to 12/3/81 set recorded in Madison. The run of Althea> Beat it On Down the Line > Cassidy is unreal.

Pretty different interpretation of Franklin's. Very much into it on a slow morning.

Listening to 9/8/73 (upcoming Dave's Picks 38) and really digging the second set. Excellent China > Rider transition. Caught myself dancing in my seat throughout NFA > GDTRFB > NFA. Nice lil jam out of Truckin' as well.

Been doin' stuff around the house today while listening to 5/17/77 from Tuscaloosa. Came for the Jack-A-Roe and stayed for the rest of the show - obvs it's fire b/c May 77, but this one seems especially hot, even for then. Honestly not a wasted moment throughout.

Still new-ish to being a Deadhead, so the talk of this show a few weeks ago was new to me. Finally got around to hearing it today and, yep, I can see why it's a classic. Deal and Scarlet>Fire are the obvious hits, but the Playin>D/S>Wheel run also blew me away. First set killed too - especially Stranger, Roses, and Brent's Big River solo. <3

Fuck it, I'm double dipping today (love love looove the Bob/Donna vocals on BIDTL and also the Mexicali Blues that got cut from this volume is really great) Edit: Hahahaha this China > Rider with the Feelin Groovy Jam in the middle (correct me if I’m wrong) is amazing, and honestly maybe better than the DP12 version? But then Jerry completely flubs the headlight verse lmaooo I love this band
