There's a lunch buffet place called Lil Dizzy's that's amazing. it has the best gumbo ive ever had plus the fried chicken is really really good. I keep recommending it to people and no one ever listens to me but its seriously the best. it closes around 2 every day though.
I've always stayed around the French Quarter because I'm a lame tourist or something. I stayed at this place one time, I really like the location of it, its close enough to a lot of stuff to walk but also not in the middle of everything so its pleasant and quiet- rbgh.com/ The kind of back part of the French quarter gets out of that stuff a little bit.
God damnit Lit. I'm here now. I went here because you seemed so passionate about it and complained no one listens to your recommendation. Well...this place fucking sucks and is the worst food I've had since I've been here. Thanks dude. For real? I'm sorry. It genuinely was great when I had it, that was back in like May of last year. I've gotten one other person to go and he echoed my thoughts. Sorry Neader. Buy you a beer next time I see you to make it up

I feel like this board goes to New Orleans more than any other destination. That's cuz it's the best Possibly my favorite city to visit. Ive been trying to make it back, had a labor day trip planned but the stupid hurricane ruined those plans

It’s probably because my personality is much more introverted than many of you but when I went to New Orleans I pretty quickly came to feel that it’s not my type of city. I appreciate it and it’s cool to be in that setting but I’m not so much into the wild party scene. Granted, I was also there visiting my sister who went to school there and it was two nights only.

Nola is prob my favorite city to visit for a short amount of time but I think I would hate living here. Weird being a tourist in such a tourist heavy city now that I also live in a touristy heavy city.

I kind of hated Nashville, probably because I got dragged out on Broadway three nights in a row. I never want to go back there.

That's like saying you hate NYC and never want to go back after only going to Times Square.

Iowa highway signs : "Old Taylor can't come to the phone right now. Why? Because she's driving."

Going to Syracuse next weekend with the bf, to check out a couple of nearby national parks and wineries/breweries.
Any recs for Syracuse itself?

Our kids think Pastabilities is the best restaurant on earth. Despite the corny-ass name, it's actually pretty solid and they have a nice selection of beers on draft.
Rango420 has more recommendations, but I'll second a place he sent me to for breakfast: Mother's Cupboard. We went on a weekday, but he mentioned that there can be a wait on the weekends. It's tiny, but great diner breakfast food including gigantic 10-12" pancakes.

I just came across quite a cool option our Sunday night... looks like there is a great steakhouse in a 19th century castle (Belhurst) near Geneva... On top of being picturesque, it is also only 30 mins away from a pretty neat vineyard and microbrewery where we'll for sure want to stop beforehand
The whole Finger Lakes region near Syracuse seems pretty scenic, in facct

Upstate NY is my fave.

Toledo was cool. So much history and super cheap. Hard to find food that wasn't fried, on bread, or jamon though. Off to Seville now, here's hoping they eat veggies there.

I remember when I visited Maui we went to this restaurant one night and they had Spaghetti-O's on the menu. Don't remember the name.
Eat fresh pineapple.
