Any recommendations on where to stay in Philadelphia would be appreciated. Never been and looking for a central spot with good food/stuff to do in the vicinity, and I have no idea what I'm looking at when I'm checking Airbnb for available places.

I think I stayed there in 2019, my hotel was in the Franklintown area, and it was a very good spot. Tons of restaurants and stuff in close walking distance, and I could easily walk to the Museum of Art too. I would definitely stay around that area again. It was just north of the city hall you see at the start of the Always Sunny opening credits

The room was small, but very nice.

Spent last week in Boston and Maine. Some delays getting in on the Saturday had us cancel our original reservation at Row 34 and we ended up eating nearby our hotel at a place called Salty Girl instead, but it was really solid! Next day we did most of the Freedom Trail. The USS Constitution was really neat to see, that was maybe my highlight. Got a kickass Italian Sub for lunch. City was a fun one to walk around in and the history stuff was cool. Monday, caught the last few things we hadn't on the Trail and walked around the Commons and parts of the city we hadn't seen. Got a solid lobster roll from James Hook and brewery hopped a bit. Dinner at Shojo which I had a couple recommendations for, but I found it really disappointing. Wish I had picked a better plcae in the Chinatown area, because a lot of it looked great. Had a great time hanging out at a bar near there called Corner Pub afterward though, the bartender was a super cool dude.
Also got breakfast almost every day at Tatte or Flour Bakery, both from recommendations. Tatte ended up being our favorite, great pastries. July 4th we watched them take the Constitution through the harbor to start the day which was really neat. Then went to a Red Sox game, they were playing the Rangers who I dislike for a myriad of reasons so I was actively rooting for the Red Sox, but the Rangers ran away with it pretty quick. Our seats were awesome, right field ridiculously close to the actual field, had never had seats like that before. Couple fly balls were hit right in front of us, super neat. But around the 4th inning or so rain started dumping on us and by the 7th we were soaked and had enough and left a little early, which ended up being a good choice because they went on a long rain delay in the 8th. Had planned to see some fireworks but ended up too tired and wet from the day and stayed in for the night, which is a choice I don't regret.
Next day we drove up towards Bar Harbor and Acadia. Stopped at lunch in Portland and did a place called Duckfat which was really good, had some great poutine. Once we made it up to Bar Harbor, we were pretty blown away by our Bed and Breakfast place. It was absolutely beautiful on a beautiful ledge overlooking a bay, and only about 10 minutes from an entrance to Acadia. The owners were super nice and mdae two great breakfasts for us. For Acadia, I experienced what I had heard about National Parks being extra busy this summer. Everywhere in there felt super packed. The only thing that didn't was we had gotten a reservation for the Cadillac Summit road early in the day, and went up there. That was a cool spot and a great view and thanks to the reservation system wasn't too crowded. But everywhere else was. Still, got some nice little hikes in it and views and it was a pretty drive around the park loop. Didn't see all of the park but hit a lot of what seemed to be what people say are the highlights. Overall, wasn't my favorite park I've been to and I don't necessarily feel a need to go back again anytime soon, it was pretty but something about it didn't wow me like some of the other National Parks I've been to recently-ish. Maybe I'm a tough critic, I dunno. We spent some time in Bar Harbor which was a neat city though and had two really solid meals there. Although everyone in Maine seemed very averse to spice which threw me off.
Last day was spent in Portland, and left me wishing we gave that more time. Had a great meal at Central Provisions, then went to this bar called Room for Improvement that was my favorite bar I've been to in a minute. But had a super early flight out of there so we called it a night by like 9. Made it home on Saturday, then went and got the puppy I posted in the cute pets thread. Eventful week!

I arrive in Barcelona during the late afternoon a week from today. I have a ticket for Parc Guell for the last slot of that evening--7:30. Anything else I should check out by there? The next morning, I'm going to Sagrada Familia. I'm only in the city until Friday, when I leave for Madrid.

It's been years since I've had to go to NYC but Holiday Inn Downtown Brookyln is technically in the middle of everything. I also liked as a Hilton loyalist the hilton garden inns on wall st. and Long Island City, since they were (relatively) cheap and near public transit to get most places. I believe dij22 and zircona1 booked hotels in NYC recently too

I have not yet been in Spain for an hour, but while talking to someone, I corrected his pronunciation of my last name and he was like, “omg it’s Spanish. What’s wrong with me?”
I think I might like this place.

Had a stopover in Charlotte yesterday and god damn that was a clusterfuck. We'll see if it's any better on the way home today.

Had a stopover in Charlotte yesterday and god damn that was a clusterfuck. We'll see if it's any better on the way home today. Sounds like Salt Lake City. We were returning from London with a connection in Salt lake City to KC yesterday. We already had a three hour layover, then another 4 hour delay. We were supposed to arrive in KC at 12:46 am, but ended up arriving at 4:30 am. Oddly enough, we had absolutely no problems at Heathrow, going or coming back. Taking the Eurostar from London to Paris was also very easy, but leaving Paris to London was a nightmare.

Iceland was incredibly sick, really great trip. Will give a short report here
Thumbs up: -Getting to see puffins at several points - going up in the tower at Hallgrimskirkja -being able to walk to everything in Reykjavík - the Herring Era Museum in Siglufjordour - the volcano museum in Heimaey - pretty much all of the Westfjords area - SkyLagoon and Geosea, two incredible geothermal pools we went to
EDIT: the hotdogs, of which I ate [embarrassing number]
Thumbs down: -the fact that everything costs at least $40 - the arctic terns that dive bomb you (I am a little scared of birds)

Someone told us early on in our trip where the best happy hours were and that saved us a ton of money. It's kind of wild how expensive it can get.

The secret is that the hotdogs cost $6 so that helps save a lot of money. Can’t believe I left those off the thumbs up list
