Thumbs down: -the fact that everything costs at least $40 No shit. I get that it's an island, but the food pricing was a shock. One night in an airbnb, we decided to shop for breakfast shit instead of eating at a restaurant. Half dozen eggs, bacon, milk, some bread/butter....More than $80. There is no avoiding it. Also, I'm not sure if you drove the full circle, but when we were there, they had a wacky fuel delivery scheme. Outside the major cities the stations weren't manned, but the machines didn't take credit cards. We finally figured out that you had to buy a gas distribution card when you were in a populated area which is all that the remote stations took for payment. More than once, we had serious fuel anxiety like...are we gonna make it to a bigger village...

We circumnavigated on a small cruise ship, I would for sure have been concerned if we were driving

thebosma What's a good place for dinner/drinks by the Sylvee? Last time I was around there I ate cheese curds next to the High Noon Saloon and got violently ill

You got sick on cheese curds from Brass Ring? Wild.
Directly next to the venue you don’t have a ton of options. I’m not huge on Vintage Brewing, though I haven’t been to that particular location. Salvatore’s is just across the street and very good if you’re feeling pizza. If you’re looking a couple of blocks away though and feel like balling out a little bit, Pig in a Fur Coat rocks, though you might be a little rushed for time if you want to get to the show. Sultan just opened up over there and is good but a tad overpriced even with the “no tip” model they do there.
If you want to be close ish but not necessarily walking distance/directly downtown, Mickey’s Tavern has very good burgers and other bar food. I also like Monty’s Blue Plate for diner style food. I have a whole different set of suggestions of you’d go towards downtown.
I assume this is for Big Thief?

I have mine tied to most of my Airline Rewards Accounts and could probably pull it from there Found it on an itinerary in my email as well, but that was through Costco Travel and not a regular itinerary but if you've done anything like that it may be in your email. I just put in "KTN" into the search

All you have to do is log into the website and your info is right there. I've never been asked for proof of my Global Entry membership in the years that I've had it, though. And no, you don't get a card with Pre-Check. You just enter your KTN when you book the ticket or check in, and it's on your boarding pass. Also, Spain was awesome. I ate all the food. Great to hang out with a friend who I hadn't seen in about 15 years. It wasn't so hot. The Weeknd's show was fantastic. The Barcelona crowd at his show was one of the best audiences I've been a part of, especially for such an enormous show.

They have your photo in a database now, at least the last few times I've come into the country. I don't think I even needed to scan an ID, the camera took my picture and knew exactly who I was from that.

Yeah, that was maybe the most surprising thing to me upon re-entry to the US last weekend. Even before I didn’t use my card or anything but I assumed I would have had to do more

I signed up for Global Entry back in late-2019 and still haven't had the chance to use it yet. Just really depressing. I had the trip to Ireland that was supposed to happen this year but my parents (the reason we were all going in the first place) cancelled after my brother backed out. Hopefully next year.
This year I have trips coming up to Cincinnati, Las Vegas and Philly and I may just flash my Global Entry card just so I can feel fancy.

Had a great trip to Seattle and Vancouver this weekend. First time in Vancouver, really loved the Gastown area and Stanley Park. But man it goes from a nice area to a not-so-nice area REALLY quick there.
Seattle was great again, this time we went to the Seattle Art Museum, which I loved. We also did the underground tour this time, that actually turned out to be a lot of fun. The tour guide we had was really funny, and half the story of the underground tunnels had to do with the sewer system they originally had, so my son was dying at all the poop jokes and stories related to that.
The funny story of the trip though was we were walking around the downtown area, for those not familiar, the Space Needle, Chiluly Museum, Climate Pledge Arena and a few other tourist spots are all together in a big square area. We were walking by the arena and I was telling my wife and kids that I really wanted to see the show there that night, Beck and Phoenix, but I figured they would be bored, so I didn't buy the tickets. So we went up in the Space Needle, and when we were almost done, I noticed the entire band of Phoenix was standing right there. I was going to say hi, but felt goofy saying hi and sorry I can't see your show that night. But I almost did, and the kids were thrilled to see someone famous up close like that.

san jose del cabo was great success but hot AF. my fave part was a sunset cruise to the arches, though overall i much preferred our cabo to cabo san lucas. it's like...cancun/bourbon street vibes. only downside was no swimming due to waves as aforementioned here.
husband's fave part was dinner at a restaurant on a farm. a dude whacked a fresh pineapple out of a bush and sliced it up for us, and i even ate a bug.

I am going to France with my newlywed wife for my honeymoon. Have a decent amount planned, but doesn't hurt to see if anyone knows more than me. We're flying into Paris and arriving Saturday August 26th in the afternoon. Spending Saturday in the city before heading to Rock en Seine for the evening. The next day we have lunch plans on a boat tour on the Seine and dinner plans already but that's it. Then we're taking a train down to Nice the next afternoon, which will be our home base until we fly out. We have dinner plans and plans to drink at La Plage in Nice that Monday but that's it. Tuesday we'll be going to Eze where so far for this day I only made dinner reservations. Wednesday we'll be going to Saint Jean Cap Ferrat for a day trip to hiki but no other plans for the day really. Thursday we're taking a day trip to Monaco where the only plan is to drink wine so far lol. Next day we'll be taking a morning train to go back to Paris where we don't have any plans yet. We'll be leaving the next morning on Saturday back home. If you have any recommendations for any days/nights we don't have plans they'd be greatly appreciated. I have a spreadsheet with different ideas I've gathered so far but figured I'd ask here before just picking one of those.

Just off the top of my head for Paris:
Food: Frenchie, Avant Comptoir Sights: Musée d'Orsay, Musée Rodin
Frenchie is a really cool little spot and my wife and I actually went back a second time after kind of stumbling into it the first time. Avant Comptoir was near our hotel and was one of the best meals I've ever had. I enjoyed Musee d'Orsay more than the Louvre - far fewer people and less space to cover. Musée Rodin has a really beautiful garden area where most of the sculptures are located.

Oh and definitely stop by Shakespeare & Company if you have time. Buy a book, get it stamped, and you'll have a nice memento of your trip.

For Paris, I love modern art, so I really recommend the Pompidou.
No exact recommendations for Monaco, but it is really worth just spending some time and walking around Monte Carlo. Incredibly beautiful place.
