There’s a few clunkers here, but Far Side of the World might be my favorite record of his in 15 years.

It feels appropriate that I’m walking through the shit show of Wrigleyville post-Cubs game while listening to this.

Turns out I was a little harsh on this. After you get past the few clunkers (woof at “Simply Complicated”), there’s actually quite a few nice tracks on here.

This really takes starting off rough to the next level, “Bama Breeze” sounds like it was passed off by a D level country hit writer.
I wouldn’t say it recovers quite as well as License to Chill, but there’s a few decent moments on the record (“Whoop De Doo” and “Silver Wings”)
Bonus listening (courtesy of BR!BR!) courtesy of this song that Jimmy had good sense to not include of the album:

If the buffet meetup was somehow on the weekend of 5/31-6/2 i could feasibly attend, though don't schedule this based on the guy whos 500 miles away and still a "maybe"

I will 100% be in Chicago that weekend
It is Megan's bday weekend and we are prioritizing seeing some family because we didn't get to come home at all for the holidays
I am p sure I could convince all parties involved that this would be an event worth attending
how quick can we get some 9/11 tanktops made?

Buffet Hotel (2009) I enjoy this one quite a bit. Nothing that's going to make my top 20 songs, but a lot of very enjoyable tracks & only a couple clunkers. - "Turn Up the Heat & Chill the Rosé" should not work but it's fun as hell - "Fins" gets a shout out on multiple tracks here - "A Lot to Drink About" is an admirable attempt at a John Prine song

Well turns out I’m a Toby Keith fan: “Too Drunk to Karaoke” rules.
“Earl’s Dead - Cadillac For Sale” & “Tides” are nice as well.

Meet Me in Margaritaville Rd. 2 will commence around noon on Saturday. We will probably wrap up sometime around 4 for the folks that want to see the late afternoon sets at Do Division.

Unfortunately due to some morning plans I would not be able to make it until an island time 3. Enjoy round 2, and know I'm there in spirit.

And now an unfortunately timed chest cold has rendered me incapable of even quietly making noise.
Let’s resume this on the faithful day Jimmy brings new music into the world. Until then: feel free to unpin this thread.
