RIP to Duke Fakir, the last surviving founding member of the Four Tops. One of the great singles bands of the Motown era, and a group that feels severely underrated in comparison to their contemporaries.

A private plane crash in northern Wyoming yesterday killed Kelly Nelon Clark, the second generation leader of The Nelons contemporary Christian gospel group, along with her husband and her daughter, who were also members of the quartet. Clark's other daughter, who was the 4th (and the surviving) member of the quartet, lived elsewhere and was not on the plane that crashed, but was scheduled to meet up with them in Seattle. The group often toured with 88 year old Bill Gaither, who is basically the biggest name in contemporary Christian gospel, and whose Alaskan cruise the group was planning to be part of.
Gaither played the Chicago Gospel festival in the past, and occasionally has concerts in the suburbs, and in Indiana. The Nelons apparently have never played Chicago or the suburbs.

Yesterday, it was revealed through a search in public records that Lt. William Calley, known for the My Lai massacre during the Vietnam War had died back on April 28th.
