I am very excited to listen to this. It's littered with artists whose names I've always seen but never really gotten around to (Futureheads, DIOYY, Klaxons, etc).
Also Maximo Park are by and far the most underrated band of that era imo.

ok so my person isn't really into hip hop. he doesn't have a single hip hop album on his best of 2000s list. you should probably know who this is by now. however, i did see him having a great time at ATCQ at P4K. So I made that the basis for this playlist. I thought about other songs like that around that time, but also thought I'd throw in some newer songs that kind of have a similar vibe. Essentially, my criteria was would this be in a THPS game? So xam, here you go. Xam I kick it? 1. Don't Sweat the Technique - Eric B and Rakim 2. Gold - BROCKHAMPTON 3. Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like That) - Digable Planets 4. Super Rich Kids - Frank Ocean 5. Express Yourself - NWA 6. I Might Need Security - Chance the Rapper 7. Doo Wop (That Thing) - Lauryn Hill 8. Bart Simpson - Princess Nokia 9. U.N.I.T.Y. - Queen Latifah 10. Can I Kick It? - ATCQ 11. i - Kendrick Lamar 12. It Ain't Hard to Tell - Nas 13. Lonely - Danny Brown 14. It Was a Good Day - Ice Cube 15. Curry Chicken - Joey Bada$$ 16. Riot! - Earl Sweatshirt I think the idea worked better than the execution, I'm sure there are better modern songs that I'll realize a week later from now, but hope you enjoy Xamnam

A couple weeks ago, Spotify played "Stillness is the Move" by Dirty Projectors and "Movement" by LCD Soundsystem back to back, so my idea for this month was to make a playlist with songs containing the word "move". It ended up being quite fun digging for some of these, and I ended up leaving some heavy hitters out. This one's for you, aladyMotion1. Harry Belafonte - "Move It" 2. A Tribe Called Quest - "Keeping It Moving" 3. Dirty Projectors - "Stillness is the Move" 4. DJ Koze - "Moving in a Liquid" 5. Kate Bush - "Moving" 6. LCD Soundsystem - "Movement" 7. Syd - "Moving Mountains" 8. George Michael - "Move On" 9. The Supremes - "You Move Me" 10. Curtis Mayfield - "Move On Up" 11. The Rolling Stones - "You Gotta Move" 12. Tom Petty - "Time to Move On"

I shuffled some Portishead this morning and got "Wandering Star" first, and then caught Church's "Under the Milky Way" on the radio on my way to work - its a scoots playlist takeover!!

One of my favorite things in music is songs that start with drum fills. It always gets me hyped. I compiled a list of some of those drum fills that I really enjoy. Someone I follow on twitter regularly posts drum fills but they're usually mid track. Those are also great but nothing gets me as jazzed as some drum fills.
So, for @tima, I present "Fill' Er Up!" A playlist of good ass drum fill openers. Hope this gets you as excited as possible.
1. Redbone- "Come and Get Your Love" 2. Weezer- "Undone- The Sweater Song" 3. Paul Simon- "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" 4. The Beatles- "Something" 5. Fleetwood Mac- "Dreams" 6. Rush- "Best I Can" 7. The Who- "Pure and Easy" 8. Peter Bjorn and John- "Young Folks" 9. Elvis Costello- "Watching the Detectives" 10. Ben Folds Five- "Uncle Walter" 11. Led Zeppelin- "Moby Dick" 12. Beach House- "Dark Spring"

Put this on this morning since the wife and I are working from home due to the snow/ice last night. She even enjoyed it, which is rare. A lot of stuff on here that she loves like Ben Folds, old Weezer, Paul Simon, and others. Good stuff, we enjoyed it.

Really enjoyed it. The reggae/island/African vibes were particularly welcome on such a cold day. And, it reminded me to listen to Ministry's version of "Lay Lady Lay" so there's that.

Hey scoots , I heard you liked The National so I made you a - nah, just kidding. Since you hate that band, the theme I went with was songs about small towns, streets, any kind of 'local' - as opposed to national - reference, etc. Enjoy!

Xam I kick it? Got around to this today, and I had a great time going through it. I'd not heard that Kendrick song before, and it was probably my favorite of the bunch. Curry Chicken, Express Yourself and Don't Sweat the Technique were other high points for me. Bart Simpson and Super Rich Kids didn't quite connect, but that's probably more than a little clouded by my dislike for Bennie and the Jets. Thanks again, solid playlist that I'll probably go back to.

Dope! Glad you liked it. If I could go back I'd make the Danny Brown song Grown Up instead of Lonely but ah well.
Not surprised that i and Curry Chicken were your favorite of the new stuff, those were definitely the most similar to the older stuff.

Heh, I see the thematic connection, but I do enjoy Lonely more.

This playlist is for avb. I only board from my phone, so this formatting should be interesting.
I was originally making a playlist inspired by Stereolab, but it kind of changed/devolved into nonsense as I worked. It is called ‘Space Age Bachelor Pad Music’ and at a certain point I became fixated on what that title brought to my mind moreso than any relation to Stereolab specifically. Anyhow, hope you enjoy:
1. Spiritualized - ‘Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space’ 2. Stereolab - ‘Metronomic Underground’ 3. Yoshonori Sunahara - ‘Balance’ 4. Cornelius - ‘Lazy’ 5. Cibo Matto - ‘Spoon’ 6. Hercules & Love Affair - ‘Iris’ 7. Cocteau Twins - ‘Cherry-coloured Funk’ 8. Strawberry Switchblade - ‘Who Knows What Love Is?’ 9. Massive Attack - ‘Exchange’ 10. La Maison - ‘Narciso’ 11. Gary Numan - ‘Asylum’ 12. Broadcast - ‘Arc of a Journey’

Oh hey! Xam, maybe this thread should be behind the Private wall, since half of us have our real names tied to our Spotify accounts lol.
