We're doing a breakfast potluck next week before the holiday. Several of us are bringing waffle irons. I make the actual best waffles, you can have the recipe if you like. Wait can I have it too

They're good, they're not too sweet and the texture is great. I actually let them ferment on the counter overnight but I am a savage.

Went to Flip Burger tonight and that Trib review was spot on. Amazing burger for $10, definitely the best I've had in the city for around that price.
I hadn't had beef in months though so I kinda feel like shit now but it was worth it.

We pre-ordered a Thanksgiving dinner from a restaurant in Denver. I'm pretty happy about not having to worry about cooking and/or traveling. Yay laziness.

I am in charge of desserts and wanted to make a Mexican chocolate pecan tart but have been overruled in favor of bourbon pumpkin, regular pecan and blueberry.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure this is why Thanksgiving has always been my least favorite. I just have to deal with traveling and not cooking, so I will take it.

Really glad that we're not in charge of making anything. We're headed up to Milwaukee to visit my fiancée's family there, which should be pretty fun. I don't mind the drive, and they have a tradition of getting blackout drunk and playing dominoes so I'm pretty thrilled

before guns-n-roses last week in tulsa, we went to a german beer hall and i had "thanksgiving on a bun" - a turkey sausage on a bun topped with mashed potatoes, dressing, gravy, fried onions, and cranberry sauce drizzled on it. sounds terrible, was fantastic. especially with a few warsteiner dunkels to wash it down.

Finally checked out Steingold's today. Mrs. Pale Hose and I split two sammies (sister in law and uncle rube), they were both good but I felt like they went light on the meat. Jewish deli usually means a mountain of meat on your samndwich, and they describe them as "stuffed", they definitely were not.
They also default to 18% gratuity when you go to pay, even though this is not a full service restaurant. I wonder how many people have accidentally tipped that without realizing it.

I used to be all about making an awesome bread pudding for the holidays, but now I'm just lazy and order a kick ass pie or two. Everybody loves it. Nobody complains. And I don't have to clean up a cooking mess.

Went to GT Fish and Oyster this weekend. Almost everything was fantastic, with the swordfish being the lone exception. Tasted like the frozen swordfish I get at Trader Joe's.
Very expensive so I don't see myself returning anytime soon, but holy hell was that a great meal.

i decided to go with cranberry sauce for my contribution to the family gatherings this year. but i always like making weirder recipes so i when i do cranberry sauce i add chipotle peppers, cardamom, cumin, and a few other things just to give it a *mild* kick.
literally every damn person in my family made a comment like "oh it's good but it's so spicy!"

Same thing happened for us with a chili cookoff we were in in Ashley's hometown. I think hers was determined to be too spicy simply by the presence of vegetables.

I made turkey gravy for Thanksgiving. Turned out pretty good, although I forgot to bring stock and we used broth instead.

I made some too, out of the turkey drippings. What do you use the stock for?
Also Elizabeth is doing a Noma menu next summer and I'm p stoked for that

They did a pop-up in Tulum right after I left last year, so bummed to miss it. We ate really well in Tulum though.

Scoots I'm going to be staying in your neighborhood for New Year's Day, where's a good brunch spot? We did Beast + Bottle and Sassafras last time, both were great.
