Please talk me out of an ooni. How much pizza do you eat now? Will it be a cool toy for the first few weeks/months, and then gather dust? Will it become an obsession that takes over your life to the point that you mill your own flour, make your own cheese, search all over for organic, artisanal Italian sausage? I mean, who has time for that?

I mean, that last part sounds like some pretty fun hyperfocus stuff I'd probably do even without the ooni
We don't eat a ton of pizza, maybe once a month or once every other month? A friend has one and was knocking out pizzas for a lil gathering last week and they were so yum though. But we rarely entertain either haha

You can also use it for non-pizza stuff. Everyone I know who has one loves it. I know this isn’t what you asked for but I think you should buy it so I can live vicariously through you

Vegas food rundown:
Thursday Lunch - steak tartare and a frisee salad from Mon Ami Gabi: fine and relatively light to start the trip
Dinner: tasting menu at Best Friend at the Park MGM. Absolutely nuts value for Las Vegas ($70) Was sitting next to a big french boy who also got the tasting menu and neither of us could believe how much food it was. Highlight was the taco
Friday: Am: Taco Bell Breakfast Crunchwrap 10/10
Pm snack: pain au chocolat from the quick service guy savoy spot
Dinner: din tai Fung at aria. Not as good as qxy
Saturday:
Am: Egg and caramelized onion sandwich from eggslut at Cosmo. This has good but their line is nuts every morning. Does Vegas need better breakfast?
Pool lunch: couple slices of pizza from whatever the NY style spot at Caesars food court is.
Dinner: momofuku. This is good but honestly wish they cooked the iberico to medium rare instead of medium. idc if this is feasible with food borne illness concerns but I have to imagine most iberico is clean enough for this. Best bite was the lamb ribs imo
Late night snack: none. Balked at the in n out line, too long
Sunday:
Lunch:Halal guys. Totally fine but there's nothing like the first time at 53rd and 6th. A small mixed over rice is $20 in Vegas maddone
Dessert: Cronut at Dominique Ansel. I missed this during the initial craze in 2013. I knew it was just a viral pastry originating in NYC so I assumed it was invented by some Karen and was very skeptical. Now that I know it's from a genuine Frenchman I'm ok with it. Also it was very good.
Overall I think Cosmo and Park seem like the best hotels to stay at if you're trying to eat well.

Does Vegas need better breakfast? i haven't been to a din tai fung in the US, but i've been to one in taipei. and it was amazing. no contest against qxy, and i do like qxy quite a bit. it's been a few years since i've been to vegas. i think eggslut was relatively new when i was there, so i figured the line was a result of the novelty especially because the previous summer i'd been to eggslut in LA and there was hardly any wait.

I think you just gotta accept the fact that the Vegas outpost of any restaurant will be worse and more expensive than the real thing but that's OK we love Vegas don't we folks. To DTF's credit it was only like $60 a person with booze lol which is good for Vegas. Weirdly felt like eating in an airport terminal though

Of all the delicious things I ate on vacation, I keep thinking about this chickpea/edamame burger. It had black sesame, kelp and lots of ginger, and I need to figure out how to recreate it.

Any suggestions for a work dinner in River North? I'm being asked for "French, Modern American, steak". Bonus points if it's not super loud and you can hold a conversation.

Obelix is the best French in the city rn if you can get in. Is it a big group/how much time do you have to book?

Not great, not bad...I got a wrap and it didn't come with a side. I didn't really want one but thought it was weird.

A bottle of wine per person is the correct amount for Schwa.

Are you saying "that's your only tip?" or "I'd think you need more wine"? You certainly can bring more. I'm sure we ran out.
When neader and I went I thought it was fairly low-key. I think the days of people sharing joints with the kitchen or whatever may be behind us.
