Fifty-four Chicago restaurants received Bib Gourmand designations from Michelin Guide, it was announced today. The Bib Gourmand is awarded to restaurants that provide good food and also offer good value. The designation is different from Michelin’s star awards, which are more prestigious.

Very cool. I haven't been to enough of those, but it's always nice to see the favorites recognized (Smoque, Hopleaf, Dove's, Longman, Pleasant House, Nana).

I want to try that Mango Pickle place. Also was Girl & the Goat always a Bib Gourmand?

Mango Pickle got a great Sula review and than horrible reviews from everyone else so I never went. P sure G & t G is a perennial bib gourmand altho there is probably no way to get out of there with whatever price classification bib gourmands come with nowadays

Nice! I saw that they were doing that and was really curious. I'm interested to hear how it is.
We were actually there for the Alice in Wonderland menu last night and it was really well done once again. Some really great plates and execution, and while some of the ingredients/flavor profiles were similar to the Harvest menu, it all felt unique and inventive in different ways. We took my sisters who had never been and they both loved it.

Couldn't figure out if it was a good deal.

Damn Longman lost their star huh? I guess that's not too shocking.

It seems so weird to me that Dusek's has a star but Longman and Girl & the Goat are bibs? idk
Dinner at Heritage last night was good but their menu/direction is fairly confusing. Like we had family style fried chicken with a Wisconsin style relish tray but also caviar service?

Steingold's opening up a walk-up deli called "Steingold's Station" by the Francisco Brown Line stop.
As someone with a dog who is not a good enough girl to go inside dog-friendly establishments, I welcome the spread of walk-up places by my apartment.

My buddy went last night and said it was great. I was planning on going before Arcade Fire tonight, but they're closed on Monday I'll probably go later this week.

So this is my third time making zoodles and my first time using zuchinni.
I had been using cucumber beforehand.
I'm an idiot.

that trib piece talks about au cheval more than it does flip burger and then nothing else, despite claiming that chicago is going through a "burger renaissance."
what even.

I thought that was funny too. They should have at least linked to their Best Burgers of 2016 article, which had a lot of awesome recs.

Eh last time the Tribune freaked out about a burger was The Loyalist, and it was pretty disappointing. I think they went overboard with the Au Cheval comparisons that time, too.

Frankie's in Brooklyn is one of Mrs. DoSo's favorite restaurants. We have eaten there many times, but never had occasion to visit their Manhattan location before Saturday night. They had a new chestnut ravioli with butternut squash and balsamic vinegar on the menu and it was probably the most amazingly perfect dish I've eaten all year.

Going to Momotaro tonight and Quiote on Saturday, both for the first time. Anyone have any tips/must haves? I don't want to blow it and order bad stuff.

my recommendation is to save your money and not go to momotaro

Unfortunately I don't have that option, I'm totally beat from the show last night and just want my couch and baseball tonight. I can't get out of these plans, though.

i havent been since it opened but i remember it being pretty unremarkable in everything other than price (remarkably expensive). An ex-boarder had such a bad experience there recently that his whole meal was comped and they gave him a gift card. Maybe if expectations are low it will be good.
Quiote looks awesome tho.

One of the women I had dinner with at Cherry Circle last night was surprising her brother with world series tickets and flying them both out to LA this morning. So fun.
