Anybody have any good recommendations for a bike carrier? Now that my daughter can ride we went to venture out and three bikes won't fit in our cars. Preferably hitch mounted but would consider roof.

Hey friends. Did you know that working out as an old sucks? I strained my lower back with all this work I've been doing, so now I'm in a forced time out for the week and I get to sit around smelling like Icy Hot.

invested in a patellar tendon band and I am back on the running train. I am so happy to be able to get out there and get back to decent shape again

2 weeks of rehab hospital food and increased physical activity for physical therapy = down 15 lbs. That doesn't account for the 8 days in the hospital either before that either. Now I just need to keep that momentum going.

I've got a goal this month of running every single day. First time I've ever tried to do anything like this in my 20 plus years of running. 2 for 2 so far.

This is absolutely incredible - one of the most amazing finishing kicks I've ever seen.

Since I've been working for the Chicago Marathon on race weekend for the past 10+ years, it has been a while since I've "completed" a Chicago Marathon.
I know most of you aren't crazy about the virtual marathon options, but they were happy to hook me up with a virtual entry, which I knocked out today. First "Chicago Marathon" (I guess we're using quotes to differentiate the real from the virtual, like the asterisk in baseball) for me since 2002.
Also...since I did this on the first legal participation date, I'm also currently in the top 50 finishers....which I've screen shot and will use in perpetuity to show everyone how I finished top 50 in a World Major Marathon for the rest of my life.

Just went for a run for the first time in like forever. Not going to any gyms plus my newish apartment complex not near anything so the only option was to run around the parking lot prevented that. Not only that but I never had the right headphones. My wireless ones would fall out or would bounce up and down in my ear as I ran which was super annoying and distracting. Recently got these www.amazon.com/dp/B07N19TD5V/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fab_xpXGFbWQ28SRA and they work like a charm. But beautiful brisk fall morning running through my neighborhood and seeing the leaves change. Love it.

Nope, mixing it up most days. 2 mile minimum to count. I think I’d go insane running the same course every day.

Piled on after completing the virtual Chicago Marathon last Monday.
After the 26.2, knocked out a 22, a 19, two 10's and a bunch of short efforts to clock a 100 mile week for the first time in my life.
My feet look like ground chuck, but that's a bucket list target that I'll never have to do again.

It’s nice to have a break now and then. Ran 9 miles today and had an electric scooter run into me full speed at mile 3. Need beer.

Just had one of those great runs where you're at a steady pace the whole time, can feel yourself working, but not dying. Usually when I run I have to stop at least every 4 mins just to walk for like 30 seconds and catch my breath. Just did about 20 mins now without stopping. Have had it happens to me only a few times and not sure what it is. Idk maybe I've been running so much I'm now getting in shape and that's such an alien concept to me I'm chocking it up to some fluke happenstance instead of it being normal.

About a month ago, my Noom coach told me that she wanted me to think about sending a video to their marketing team to tell them a bit about my progress. I've been feeling extra awesome this week because I'm now doing four sets of 60 second planks on one leg--back in March, planking once on my forearms for 30 seconds was hard enough--so I sent them a video today. We'll see. If they use me in their marketing, they use me. If they don't, well...I already lost over 80 pounds, so whatever. I still win.

anyone have a good back to running or couch to 5k type program they used? My cardio is going to be completely wiped after winter is over after not really running a bunch with my knee issues all year.

That's incredible UV
I "only" walked 2,122 miles (359 workouts). I cannot IMAGINE doubling that distance (or spending twice as much of my workout time on walking).

I can't lie. I've had plenty of time this year since it's just me and my dog. I was already getting in a minimum of 17k steps per day back in February. Once March hit and we went into lockdown, I decided to make the time count for something, especially since October was all about eating donuts and lying on the couch while we were on strike.
I started 2020 at about 42% body fat. This week, I hit 19.8%. I'm pretty proud of that.

Went down a rabbit hole the last couple days researching races - trying to plan out my next couple of years.
Fall 2021 - goal is NYC Marathon, but it's not an easy race to get into. Backups are either St George Marathon or Mount Desert Island Marathon in Maine. Spring 2022 - Big Sur International Marathon - point to point race down Highway 1. Absolutely a bucket list race. Not at all fast with the hills, so I can take more photos than I normally would not racing for a time.
2023 - Berlin or Tokyo. Former is probably more likely.
Anyway, excited to have some goals for this year. Fall seems reasonable for a race, but even if it's not spring of next year is going to be incredible with that Big Sur race.

Friends had nothing but good things to say about Berlin. I had one friend run Tokyo. He liked it, but it rained almost the whole race, so... Do you still have a Chicago deferral, or no?

Been avoiding getting a scale but it came in yesterday cuz I had to track it some. At the doctors office last month on 12/15 I was 237 (with clothes on) and this morning I'm at 223. Also able to run 2 miles without feeling like absolute shit which has always been as issue for me. I still look like absolute garbage because I'm doing no muscle stuff and all my weight sits in my face and stomach and refuses to go to my hank hill ass but but I'm feeling good.

just weighed in at 213.2 and am therefore no longer "obese" and instead "overweight". My work out music the past 3 weeks or so has been the discography of Good Charlotte so if anyone has any questions about the general oeuvre of GC lmk and I can try to help.

S/T (7/10) - Scrappy but fun pop-punk that nevertheless sounds more like Smash Mouth than NOFX. Clear eye for pop songwriting that gets dragged down by the ballads in its back half.
The Young and the Hopeless (8/10) -God Tier pop punk songwriting that hints to the fact that they have heard real punk music but are absolutely uninterested in playing it. It should be a felony that they have not had the opportunity to play Riot Girl at Riot Fest yet for all the people who hate Britney but love Social Distortion/Minor Threat and I guess also Good Charlotte?
The Chronicles of Life and Death (2/10) - Truly the most garish era of pop punk in full view. Taking the 'ambition' of Welcome to the Black Parade and American Idiot and meeting it with an absolute lack of chops and some of the worst songwriting I've ever heard, with almost none of the speed and stupidity of pop punk. Also it really sucks that these guy's dads left them and all but what are they 40 come on lets get a new topic
Good Morning Revival (4/10) - They flattened out their sound to try to sound like the Killers but it turns out that's a much easier genre to parrot and its aged a lot better than the garbage on Chronicles of Life and Death. As with previous albums it sounds like the Madden brothers are aware of better music but uninterested in making anything that wouldn't sonically work in a period appropriate Amanda Bynes movie.
Cardinology (5/10) - a Return to form? Half of these songs are endless ballads that suck but the other half is 'fine'. The Elliot Smith cover is very disappointing in that its played completely straight.
Youth Authority (7/10) - Now we're cooking with gas. This is the mix of Smash Mouth and Sum 41 we all want with a better sense of humor about it all that comes with age I guess. A sign that there's a future and that future is Good Charlotte America's Band (tm)
Generation RX (6/10) a Heartwrenching look at the dangers of being a rich pop punk guy in his 40s. Terrible workout music.

I remember reading a Good Charlotte article in Guitar World. The brothers talked about how they thought they invented a new chord once. They excitedly showed their guitar teacher at school the next day, who informed them that it was a D chord.
That was probably 20 years ago and I don't know why I still remember it.
