Update: MIA/TB will definitely not take place in Miami as scheduled on Sunday. There is an ongoing discussion about whether to play the game during week 11 (though neither team is keen to play 16 weeks in a row) or on Sunday at a neutral site. I can't imagine Miami's ownership would be happy about losing 1/8 of their home game revenue, but who knows?

My guess is they go with the neutral site. Miami ownership is probably the only party on the Week 11 side. Both teams and the players association would want to avoid 16 weeks straight.

So 6 game suspension upheld but Zeke can play week 1
Meanwhile hearing Pitt or Philly for the Miami/Tampa game

IRT doso: Absolutely my thoughts as well. I'm going with Weddle week one though just to feel out the Jets D. That franchise is so dismal that I trust nothing with them right now.

I know, right? I'm morbidly curious to see how badly they fail this year.

I really like this team I just drafted. It amuses me, but I'm also feeling confident that I'll slay going into the playoffs.
Tom Brady TY Hilton Allen Robinson Davonta Freeman Lamar Miller Martellus Bennett Adrian Peterson Doug Martin (suspended) Cam Newton Willie Snead (suspended) Marvin Jones Jr Kenny Britt Graham Gano Matt Prater (dropping for Kenny Stills) Arizona D

That'd be a really solid team in 2014.

My only league drafted last night. I'm kind of disenchanted with the NFL this year so I slogged my way through it not really thinking about it:
Russell Wilson Matt Stafford Mike Evans Emmanuel Sanders Larry Fitzgerald Tyrell Williams Jordan Matthews Jordan Howard Lamar Miller Mike Gillislee Rob Kelley Jonathan Stewart Travis Kelce Adam Vinatieri Minnesota D

Carolina kept two kickers and they're trying to deal either Gano or the rookie.

the 4th quarter of this game has been the only redeemable part of 2017

Brady is old. Bellicheck's defense is mediocre. Kareem Hunt is good at football

While I wouldn't bet against Brady bouncing back, I would certainly enjoy seeing the Pats (and their doofus fans) shit the bed all season.
That was a very entertaining game and a great way to start the season (barring the injuries to Hightower and especially Berry).

ESPN spent all day yesterday suggesting the Patriots could run the table, and the headline this morning was that last night was the humbling loss they needed. Fuck ESPN.

The offense is fine. The defense has holes. They'll make the playoffs but will come up short which is fine by me.

I'm surprised New England stopped running the hurry up. That worked so well on their first drive.

Berry's out for the year with a ruptured Achilles. :/ Really bummed about this. He was outstanding against Gronk last night. The defense should still be solid but he will be missed.

I'm surprised New England stopped running the hurry up. That worked so well on their first drive. Probably has something to do with Amendola's concussion. The only other receivers they had active last night were Cooks, Hogan and Dorsett. And Dorsett has only been on the team for a week, so I'm sure he's not up to speed on all of the plays/packages.

Ratings were down year to year again. Do we know how how they tabulate those ratings? Personally, I watched the game for free on the NBC Sports App and I'd imagine a bunch of other smart people who no longer pay for cable would've done the same.

I have no idea what numbers they're using, but generally online viewing takes longer to factor in.
I didn't even bother watching. I know a lot of other people who generally have watched football in the past that did the same. So I still think it's a trend that will be concerning if it's not reversed at some point.

As the resident expert in the broadcast numbers game, here it is from the horse's mouth:
"Last night saw the return of NFL regular season football with the KC Chiefs at the New England Patriots and the game won handily, nearly tripling the other broadcasters combined. The pure program averages were 14.5/25 (HH) and 9.9/29 (P25-54). Providence had the best rating (36.7/55), Boston and Kansas City also averaged over a 30 rating. Last year the premiere Thursday game was the Panthers vs. Broncos matchup which averaged 16.6/29. While only one game, the trouble with the NFL ratings appears to remain."
So yeah, Scoots is correct.
EDIT: if you care, WMAQ overnights were 11.7/20

Ezekiel Elliott was granted his temporary restraining order against the NFL, so it looks like he'll be eligible to play the entire season.
