All of mine have probably been mentioned but I’ll second Four Lions. I also think Mistress America deserves a spot. It’s not as good as Frances Ha but it is still extremely good and also more of a comedy. Looking back, Mistress America was my #6 movie of 2015, and I feel its gotten better with age, so very high likelihood it would place well on my list.

Oh wow, didn't realize Four Lions was 2010's, 100%.

This is one of the most well written simple stories and is seriously charming. I also fell asleep twice in the theater for this one due to horrible jet-lag and have only seen it once since then so it was nice to give it a re-watch.

Please to say this one holds up as well. I don't know if I can think of any other films that so effectively confront toxic masculinity.

Love that movie. I taught that and I Heart Huckabees a couple years ago in my existentialism unit.

Also of note, what's everyone's biggest movie pet peeve that's been prevalent over the past decade? For me it's definitely movies that feel like they should be ending and then have another (several) ending(s). It's usually pointless and makes me feel like the screenwriter wanted to do too many different endings so they just did them all. Her could have very easily fallen into that trap but I think avoids it pretty well. Birdman is a movie that I like in spite of the 4 endings. Shoplifters has this problem as well but manages to redeem itself with the actual ending being so good.

I think the first time this bugged me when seeing (eminently bourgeois and oh-so-French) Catherine Deneuve impersonating a US factory worker in Dancer in the Dark

boxd.it/3TPA8Here’s some preliminary listings though I need to re-watch a few like Hard to Be a God, The Immigrant, Somewhere, and some others. I also need to start seeing some new to me stuff. I should also re-watch Norte, The End of History but much like Hard to Be a God I am dreading that.

I can see rewatching movies in order to make a list (though I probably won't) and I'm down with watching movies that inspire dread but don't think I could bring myself to do both at once

I know that both Norte and Hard to Be a God are probably good movies and I remember thinking they’re well crafted. I’ve been meaning to see them again but they are so goddamn long. I don’t make a ton of space for depressing 4 hour movies

is your rewatch list mainly ones you thought you were too young to like the first time around? what about ones you weren't old enough to dislike?

No ranking means it’s safe to assume The Mule #1 which is correct

i finally made my list. is this a board project thing? I haven’t made a list thread yet, figured we could give people a second to catch up on some 2019 releases that would be late entries. I was thinking sometime around the oscars but we could also do it sooner

Bumping to distract from the album list not being ready.
I think Endgame is the best movie of the decade.
