most rosters i've seen have been in the 40s. i think teams are still trying to figure out how best to build these rosters based on the rules and leaving plenty of space to add.
i read yesterday that players not currently on the 40-man would have to be released if they were removed from the 60-man. and players on the 40-man would go on waivers if they were removed from the 60-man. but that's voided if the player tests positive.

I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility they do better than the Cubs on this short season

The Sox are oozing with talent, but my concern with the short season is that the young talent won't get enough reps in to realize their potential this year - especially all those young pitchers. It's rare guys come up and dominate right away, we'll see.

The Mets made a bunch of minor league signings today, are they the only team who realized the transaction freeze is over? We're also seeing some players start to opt out, including Ryan Zimmerman and Joe Ross of the Nats, and Mike Leake of the Diamondbacks. I'm sure there will be more to follow.
